My seven year tour of the north has finally come to an end!

Post by Cap'n P8 »

Well, I'm sitting in a hotel room in Dallas about to start sim training for a new aircraft at a new job and I can't help but think back over the last seven years and all the great people I've met and the awesome experiences I've had. It's been a long haul but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I made great friends at every stop along the way most of whom I still keep in touch with today.

For those of you on here who know me and hadn't heard yet, I left Wasaya at the end of September to take a job close to home. Josee and I are happy to be returning home for good just in time for the upcoming birth of our second daughter in mid-December.

To Arthur at Niigaani, sorry to say I won't be able to make it to the wedding as I will be stuck down here until November but I wish you the best on your special day!

To Bernie and Lynn and the rest of the gang at North Star Air, it was a blast! In particular Bernie, I would like to say that I really admire your leadership style. You were always ready to roll up your sleeves and get dirty with the "hired help". :D

And lastly to the gang at Wasaya, it was my pleasure to work with a great bunch of people for the last two years. There wasn't a day at work where I felt like I didn't want to be there.

All the best my friends, clear skies and tailwinds!!!

Congrats P8 (P-8?, Oh I get it, Pate) Glad to see you got yourself a dream job. I think you will miss rolling drums in the Otter somtimes though. Try and get some of us on the radio when passing over N.Ont at FL 400. Try and remember me when your chief pilot there.

At least, there is no snow in Dallas! Good luck on your new venture. Remember to take the time to smell the flowers! Enjoy a Lone Star Beer!

Should be lots of time to smell the flowers, the schedule is pretty good. Should actually have lots more time to devote to the family.

Lear 45 for Flexjet Canada.

I have seen snow in Dallas. Once in April and a heavy snowfall in January. The first two times I went there.

Congrats Cap'n P8!!!

Thanks for your advice a few months ago...!

I was at SimuFlite last week and, believe me, you won't see any snow out there... It was a pretty nice temperature!

Enjoy your new job! Cheers!

Speaking of better climates, does anyone know anything geeky to see in Atlanta? I have an extra day there after sim next week.

And to add to the superb enjoyment of Dallas, you should get over to Saltgrass just on the south side of Grapevine - just off west Airfield road a bit north of the big fuel dump and just before you cross hwy 121.

They have the finest prime rib there - even better than our superb Alberta beef. Even better than the Jasper Park Lodge stuff. That stuff melts in your mouth. Ya don't even need a knife to cut it.

Happy simulating. Lovely place there, except for the drive to Dallas for booze. Beer is available just down Glade Road a mile and a half or so west at the service station into Euless.

Regarding Saltgrass, I recommend the Wagon Boss Top Sirloin 8 and 10 oz, and if you're really hungry, the Siver Star Porterhouse 24 oz. Rare of course.

Wagon Boss is good too, but Saltgrass still beats them --- hands down. Fork tender - Melt in your mouth prime rib.!!

Congrats Cap'n P8

Have fun in the FL's but you know you are going to miss your old "Blackfly" call sign!

Although it has been a while since we talked!

Me I loved the mexican food. Try Abuelos if you have time, but the best of the best of mexican has to be a place in grapevine called Esparsas. It's fantastic. Congrats man.

I remember talking to the tower controller in Sudbury one time and he said that was the best call sign he'd every heard for the north. How true!

Keep the blue side up brother!
