I'd send you mine, but I think I burned it.

If that book could get ME an INRAT pass, it can get anyone a pass.
Good luck, and don't get discouraged. There are many semi-retarded people flying IFR, and you're smarter than them.

Like I said before the Aerocourse workbook prepared me the best for the INRAT. I used the workbook as a guide to what I knew and what I needed to learn or refresh myself on. I would go through every section and keep track of the questions that I got wrong and then review that material. And, I found for the INRAT, that you shouldn't over analyze a question. If it seems really simple, then it's because it really is that simple! Good luck.
That workbook and the Cap Gen, as mentioned. What is it you don't get? If its ONLY the written then that's just a matter of study and practice and you'll do fine. Is the flying part working out? Where do you think its breaking down? Don't forget that the exam is only a ticket to entry and any mark that buys you the ticket will do (ever see exam marks on a resume?).
Then you really get to learn, with experience and mentors.
The funny thing is, once you get to understand it, IFR is actually an easier way to get around. Not having to find the ground all the time is a huge relief. The rules make sense and there is somebody leading you about by the nose (I'm not talking uncontrolled, as much), your approaches are straightforward and there's no feeling quite like breaking out on final!
Don't let the process intimidate you, treat it as a really neat part of your flying experience. Many have gone before you and you will find if you just take small bites it will all come together as a huge 'eureka!'
If I can do it, anybody can.

"What's it doing now?"
"Fly low and slow and throttle back in the turns."

Aerocourse! just did my exam and helped me.
I suggest:
-Aerocourse
-Cap gen
-A.I.M
( can help too)
But like hedley said, real life and theory is different!
It's like the drivers exam......who actualy applies that stuff in real life? If you make a full stop here in Quebec, a car is gonna smash you in the rear!

Asking a pilot about what he thinks of Transport Canada, is like asking a fire hydrant what does he think about dogs.
I doubt anyone cares, but if you want to stay alive IFR, it might help to learn about:
1) icing (hey, why not get a job flying a van this winter?)
2) CB's (Scott Crossfield could fly Mach 2 but not through a thunderstorm)
3) CFIT (situational awareness - what's a safe altitude around here?)
4) widespread fog (the only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire)
None of which are even mentioned on the INRAT as far as I can recall.
Do memorize the rules for GPS approaches, though.

If they have insurance, new car for you!THEICEMAN wrote: If you make a full stop here in Quebec, a car is gonna smash you in the rear!
And Skywolfe, just keep studying, like everyones saying, you'll have no problem when it comes to the exam
Flying is the second greatest thrill in life... landing is the first.
Take my love, take my land, take me where I cannot stand. I dont care, Im still free. You cant take the Sky from me

Not unless you want your insurance premiums to go sky rocket high!
A Haitian cab driver rammed me in the back last year......wet leaves on ground....my rates went up a bit!

HAHAH///I have many stories about are funny Haitian friends!
When I worked at YUl...you would see crazy stuff every Port aux Princes flight!
1) Guy shows up wants to check in a Car Bumper!
2)A Father dies and his son cannot afford a funeral here in Canada. Tries to send him down with AC...bring him to the gate! Claims that his father is sleeping! He leaves & they try to board him........AC agent "Ticket please, ticket please....omg he's dead!" Hi son was in trouble let me tell you that!
3)Woman shows up with a goat...
More but I can't remember.......

Wolfie, do the Pro cram stuff and you can not fail the exam.
The most difficult thing about flying is knowing when to say no.
After over a half a century of flying I can not remember even one trip that I refused to do that resulted in someone getting killed because of my decision not to fly.
