NAC pay
I was passing through Thompson last week and was surprised to see a NAC air PC12 there. I thought that they were bankrupt? Didn't they miss pay day a few times? The PC12 wasn't flying, so maybe the bank (or airport) owns it. Does anyone know if they are still operating?

Ya, the bank owns it. The bank repo'd the whole fleet and hangar. Thunder Airlines has purchased everything because they've been awarded the dedicated MOH contract. The Thunder hangar has been purchased by Perimeter in preparation for their new routes that go head-to-head with Bearskin. Its all on the front page of the Winnipeg Free Press today.

ROTFLMAO, hahhahahahahaahahahaah
I don't know what is funnier, spruces post or the fact that he bought it. hahhahahahahah WOW
Now folks here is a classic example of believing what you read on avcanada. Sorry to pick on you Rotor no offence but its true.
What you read on hear take with a grain of salt, unless it has something to back it up.
NAC DID NOT go bankrupt, they have just built a huge ass hanger that makes bearskin jealous in thunder bay, as far as I know(NOT SAYING ITS TRUE)they have purchased some 1900's. They have a good sched network running that yes goes into Manitoba. As far as YTH I don't know it may have been the NAPS dedicated aircraft there(Northern Police). May have been a charter.
cheers

NAPS is an Ontario based Police contract. So unless Freddy the Murderer from Keewaywin made his way to Thompson; and is being picked up on an outstanding warrant, the NAPS plane wasn't there.
NAC has a permanent base in YTH and runs a couple of scheds out of there.

This might be the funniest thing I have read in a long time. Bearskin is not jealous of NACAir. And the 1900 thing might even be funnier....flyinhigh wrote: NAC DID NOT go bankrupt, they have just built a huge ass hanger that makes bearskin jealous in thunder bay, as far as I know(NOT SAYING ITS TRUE)they have purchased some 1900's.

nac 2007 needs cash
Friday October 19th, 2007 is the new deadline for $95,000 required from each First Nation owner to keep NAC aircraft leases from being cancelled. Has any one heard of this deadline.

Yeah, I was going to say is this really the time to be joking about this company? Sched flights have been cut back big time. King Air's were grounded except for charters. Layoffs in upper managment. Now they've given ultimatums to the owner communites? I heard on the radio that they wanted $200,000 from each spot to continue servicing them. Maybe they got it wrong and it's only $95,000.

Why would a native reserve invest in any airline when they are all pretty near flat broke already? With all the investment options available, an airline must be about the worst choice of all (unless they considered some shares in SW or WJ). I just don't get it....invest millions in a single investment when the very first lesson you are taught is to diversify your holdings.
Now their PC12s have no resale value due to the high cycle times, gravel ops and harsh environment. Look on Controller.com.... 10 year old, US reg, 1000 TT creampuff pavement to pavement PC12 for $3 million. That's a 2 million depreciation already from new...so what would a 15,000 hour, gravel chipped, initials carved into the seatbacks and 20,000 cycles sell for?
Sorry, but NAC is not the only airline facing problems. Look at the 3 AT802s taking away all the $27 a mile HS748 fuel runs. That EXCESSSSSSS profit is used to subsidize the 1900s running around with 1 person and a mailbag. In a few years, things are going to be surprisingly different in the north of Ontario.

Remote first nations communities invest in airlines because they will be spending HUGE amounts on money on air travel each year. They can either spend those dollars on a service provided by some organization outside their community, or keep the dollars in their own municipalities and economy. It makes alot of sense.
Unfortunately, many of these airlines suffer the same as airlines on any scale or market - management wants to grow, grow, grow and the original money-making routes are overshadowed by bad routes / aircraft choices / contracts / expansion.

Is a " First Nations community " different from an Indian reserve?a First Nation community
Could the reason they spend so much have anything to do with the billions the taxpayers give them every year?
The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.
