I can tell you from personal experience that white people piss on airplane floors, drink until their unconcious, etc, etc. too. About the only thing I havn't seen is someone huffing during the flight. As for standing there watching the pilot unload their baggage; why not? I don't unload my own baggage either. I also don't fuel up my own airplane when renting. I'm paying the bill, and someone else is going to do the work; namely you who's being paid.
As for blockades and civil disobedience, how many tax dollars have to be spent on security everytime an international conference is held in this country. How many "white" socialists, anarchists, and assorted other complainers have damaged property, thrown rocks, crashed police baracades, blocked streets, etc in protest of something they didn't like? How many of them dress in "military" style dress?
How do new immigrants succeed in Canada? Well, mostly they settle in large urban areas with large populations of their own ethnicity. Most that get into Canada do so because of the money, education and skills they bring with them. How well do you think they would do if relegated to some isolated community with few services and economic opportunities?
Yes, Indian Affairs has a huge budget, but who is that money actually going to? My bet is that the largest portion by far is consumed by the salaries of their employees, many of whom have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo.
Deanna, two points of view on your suspension from work. I suppose you shouldn't have misused your employer's computer sytem, and perhaps work hours as well, and now what happens, happens. And, if its true that some asshole fink ran to your boss to tattle tale, someone ought to take him/her out back for a good tune up. If I were the boss, you'd both be in shit. A couple days unpaid leave for you, and the tattle taler would be canned for poisoning the work environment by finking about trivial bullshit.

Cat no need to futher explain...that was my point. I was simply demonstrating how these things get going. I grab a comment, drill into it searching for an avenue to twist it into somethings its not...the other feels the need to add or clarify and I just continue to pick on words. Perhaps pointing the finger and suggest you are backtracking on your previous statements or dig for other threads where you may have said you have never bent an airplane blah blah and on it goes...a whole lot of nothing. All meant to belittle the other guy and feel superiour. I know what you meant in your 1st post and I don't question the whys and whats of your contribution. Like I said up front, I was simply demostrating a point and this was a fresh revelation to "pick on".
I'm not qualified to judge the state of affairs in the emergencey services field but there is a moderator on this sight that is and I believe he has already stated his business crosses all races. I am willing to make a guess however that he deals with free rides and wastes of time off reserve as well.

At no time did I attempt to lay blame for the alleged reaction of a board member on her. Actions have consequences xsbank. I was attempting to tell her that her actions on here had foreseeable consequences and that this reaction is not exclusive to this Web Board, it would have happened on many others; and newgroups etc.xsbank wrote:
And Dex, that comment about it being Deanna's fault that someone blew the whistle on her is beneath contempt.
Why the hysterical response xsbank? This is the Internet, if you don't want the fucking kooks to come to your house don't walk through the city streets with your address printed on your jacket. Some are unaware of this. I assume based on your over emotional response you are just learning this.xsbank wrote: "I do not condone bringing your employment into this. But this is the price you pay for being provocative (your intro post and reporting to Google AdSense for example), and not being anonymous. Doesn't justify their actions ut is foreseeable that someone who posts here would react. This would happen at most other Web Boards let me assure you." Dex, you are full of sh*t.
So the penalty for being provocative is to lose your job? I guess I better sign up for EI then. What's next? Burn down her house, Blow up her car? Send her to Syria or Guantanamo? Another bloody good reason to stay anonymous when there are vindictive low-life losers out there who will use any lame excuse to damage you.

Just to clarify something A Friend, then I'm outta this debate.
..I slid off the side of the runway because the wet snow was so slippery the X/Wind finally over powered my ability to stop the thing from sliding side ways.....
..slid off the runway and sinking into the soft ground is not bending an airplane.....it is getting stuck in the soft ground.....
And for your information I have not ever bent an airplane..ever...in 55 years of driving them all over the planet.
There was one incident where the left gear uplock had failed and the gear slowly collapsed in France about seven years ago...the airplane did not get " Bent " ...I sort of consider that exactly what it was..mechanical failure I had no control over.
Anyhow enough of this thread as it is getting nowhere.
Please read what I said....Perhaps pointing the finger and suggest you are backtracking on your previous statements or dig for other threads where you may have said you have never bent an airplane blah blah and on it goes..

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Long time reader on this thread, first time poster... Heres my take on it..
waaa waa waa...
'nuff said.
I honestly think we are just trying to see if we can get this thread past the remarkable TPBM games... come on 80+ pages!
Oh... no im not racist or insensitive... Infact im pretty sure no one on this board is truely racist. Maybe insensitive? Maybe too sensitive? Dont tell me it isn't like this on other message boards... cry me a damn river.

Dex, I'm not hysterical, but I give up. All the nastiness that ever turns up on this site can all be found here, represented in this thread. I'm still completely gobsmacked that some 'person' would phone Deanna's employer. I re-read what you said and it still says she deserves what she got. I say bullshit and I'm outta here.
"What's it doing now?"
"Fly low and slow and throttle back in the turns."
"Fly low and slow and throttle back in the turns."
Deanna is not in trouble for WHAT she posted, she is in trouble because she posted at all from a work computer that was not to be used for email or posting on forums. It was stated this is a violation of the terms of use. She would have known the terms of use at her work. Therefor she broke those rules willingly. Hoping to not get caught. Now I can't believe some jackass phoned in to get her caught, but more often than not some way or another you will get caught for breaking the rules. Thats what happened she broke the rules the boss found out, hes taking punitive action. Simple as that, there is no need to jump down Dex's throat. He didn't call, even if NO ONE called eventually she most likely would have been caught using the work computer anyway, and the actions taken by her boss would be the same in either case.

So?: I had to deal with a few 'white' bullies just like me when I was a kid. Typical school.DMH wrote:Once upon a time there was a little Nish girl who has no idea what appearance had to do with anything…I went though my days like any kid: playing, getting dirty, laughing. Then my family moved into the city, I started school and was one of only 2 other kids of indigenous descent in the whole school. My mom and/or dad would bring me to school some days, which I always loved. Except one day, this other girl in my Gr. 1 class decided to pick on me. She did so in the typically cruel fashion kids do. She made fun of my hand-me-down clothes, made fun of my old ratty shoes…and then she said something that has been locked into my memory ever since. This little girl said, as all my other classmates stood by watching and laughing: “She’s just a stupid Indian, just like her big, fat stupid Indian dad and her brother and sister!” Hahahahahahha! All the kids laughed, and I started to cry because I didn’t know what they were talking about. What the hell’s an Indian! (my parents never had to school us on this stuff, it hadn’t come up. Or maybe they sheltered us, and that didn’t work out any better) I was raised in a family that didn’t identify by how we looked. People were people. People weren’t Asian, they weren’t white, they weren’t black…there were just people. They were friends or they were strangers. Well, I cried hard that day at recess, and when I went inside, dirty, streaky tears running down my cheeks , the teacher sent me to the washroom to clean up and get a drink. As I wandered back down the hallway, I could here my teacher talking to the class. “What happened today was not acceptable. Deanna and here family are…native.” “What does that mean?” Someone asked. “Well, it means that her family is not like yours. She is…well you all know cowboys and Indians don’t you?” “Yes…” the class responded. “Good. Deanna and her family are Indians.” I was tagged. I was now ‘different.’
That'll buff right out

Nerd, Geek, Queer, Fag, Loser. Take your pick. Anyone on this site was most likely labeled one of those in Elementary or Junior High, hell even High School it still would have stuck. You were labeled an Indian, now maybe the should have said native instead, but still its like someone calling me white. um... yeah I'm white, good for you.
Sorry, that came off more confrontational than intended. Yes its horrible that you were bullied, but everyone is bullied. They labeled you by the colour of your skin, which honestly happens to everyone. If someone was to describe me, the first thing they would say is either Male or white, just like my friend up the street, Male or black would be the first thing that comes to mind for most people. You would be female or native. Is it optimal? no. Is it racist? certainly not. its a description. white male, brown hair, green eyes. that is how i would be described to someone who had never seen me before.

Deanna, if you get sacked, I am sorry but I have no sympathy for you. You broke the rules at work, and you were caught.
Then you have the lack of responsibility to own it. You try to guilt trip us about how we have done some injustice to your seven year old. If there is any reprocution on this child it is no ones fault but your own. You chose to risk your own job...
Again, as I said before, you wanted people who posted to own up to who they are and put a name to an opinion, to take responsibility for their words. Thus your problem with your employer is your own as they are YOUR WORDS. You are childish to pin that on someone else. Even if you were ratted on (which is admittedly a little sad that someone takes this forum / its posters seriously enough to bother getting into personal lives), you got caught for YOUR OWN ACTIONS.
If I were your employer I would fire you for blaming others for the penalties of your choices, as it would show that you are not an person who can be responsible for themselves and their own choices. Again, tell yourself you are a victim of everyone else, and live in your bubble land.

What an ugly thing human nature can be sometimes. Too bad this thread brings out the worst in some of the posters.

1) Never pass an opportunity to use a washroom
2) Never waste a hard on

This is the internet. Woe to anyone that tries to bring real life into it.
I'll stand up for Deanna and her job. Words on the internet are just that.

The worst? I am not remotely offended by this comment (if it is me you are refuring to which I am assuming is the case). Heck I will go so far as to say, that what I think of this deanna character is far worse than what I write.corporate joe wrote:What an ugly thing human nature can be sometimes. But, I hope you do not make the mistake of assuming this to mean I am a racist... My disgust with this person does not represent my feelings toward aboriginal people. It is simply my disgust with her.
I would love to say sarcastically "You win Deanna, we are at fault for you loss of job, after all if I wasnt such an ignorant person who didnt agree with your every word, you would never have broken your company's policy." But I suspect she truly believes that my words are acurate. Again she is playing the poor victim card in her life, and I find that to be a very easy card to play which she regularly resorts to.

That's probably good advice. Sad but true would be the appropriate cliche.hazatude wrote:This is the internet. Woe to anyone that tries to bring real life into it.

CAT, on a medevac to Sandy lake one winter night, someone had left a present on the runway for us - a white ford F150 sitting 500' up on the centerline. needless to say there was shit raised about that one. Turned out "opps, driver ran out of gas, sorry" was the reason given by the local Nishwabi (SP) police.
I have seen things doing Medevacs that greatly angered me, but when it came to tying to kill me and the crew, I took offense.
just thought I'd add that little story, so A friend may get some idea of what we may have seen flying up north, and where possibly some of the offending comments may have come from. Not condoning racism though.

You should climb down off your soapbox and talk about something you actually know about. Talk about assumptions, speculation and hot air. I know the girl and as I have previously stated she accepts responsibility for her workplace crime, if she could roll back the clock she would have waited until she got home to respond, unfortunately her instinct to fight back got the better of her. The only thing she would change in this whole thing is where she elected to respond from.
Where do you get off making the grand leap of assumption and representing it as fact that she is not taking ownership of her actions or that she considers herself a victim? Clearly you are one of the people that I referred to previously, one of those people sitting behind their computer with a shit eating grin taking comfort in knowing that somebody with a differing opinion is paying a price. It’s unclear whether you or a like minded thinker callously hunted her down and tipped off her employer to the posting not knowing that the content wasn’t the issue but another policy.
For a person that purports to work in this industry and regularly posts on this site I would think you would find it more than a little disturbing that it looks like somebody with an extreme case of little man syndrome took the opportunity to take a difference of opinion to a whole new level. A whole new paradigm has surfaced in the Avcanada “community” and I remind the whole community that you work in a glass house, you know what they say about glass houses right?
I’ve learned that the indigenous peoples take the lessons they learn from mainstream society and apply them in an effort to level the playing field. Pilots are not the only “peoples” reading this forum if you get my drift. Gathering and hunting seems to have become vogue in this aviation community so I thought in the name of being fair I would supply the other readers of this sight a couple places where they can report things that they think aren’t right.
Have a great day and remember to smile at all the passengers...you just never know when one might find reason to try and ruin your day!
