awe you poor thing, I, probably like many others put in 3.5 yrs on the ramp before spinning a prop and had a larger debt, so it appears you have it better than most.. well did, as the ramp days seem to be a thing of the past

Ramp time is where you pay off that loan, you know you will make less when you get on the flight line :p You'd be suprised how much you can pay off in shit hole towns, where rent is cheap. As long as the booze doesn't hit you too hard.futboler14 wrote:well, im going to be on the ramp for 13 months before i get a flying job, and i still have $25k loan to pay off. some of u have it better than me

Borek has always sucked and always will. There is an ingrained disrespect for people at that company. It comes from the top down and tho there have been changes in personell, like cp's, it has made no difference. I personally knew and flew with the f/o who was killed in the antarctic when they piled into the berg on takeoff after minimum rest from a horrendous ferry flight from punta arenas ( I believe ). That individual was on that flight by coercion. The then cp ( who I also know personally ) told the f/o he was going down there for 6 months or he was fired. The guy was engaged to be married and had zero desire to go, and in all rights he should not have, but that is what I mean by disrespect for people. He was a great guy and I wish he had told the cp to shove it where the sun don't shine. Employees at borek are there to be used and abused, and if you don't tow the line, your canned. Borek sucks, and no, there is nothing glamorous about the Maldives, I would not go there for borek if my life depended on it.GroundSpeed wrote:I have been to to Antarctica, YEV,YFB,YRT, and Resolute and I have to say they are the worst company I have worked for in my life. 32k as a DHC-6 fo ha ha good joke open your eyes, I worked more then 250 days lasy year and did a antarctic tour and never made 32k. You talk about exotic destinations and dancers, Ya there great for the 7 hours you have in town before you have to leave the next morning for another 10 hour ferry flight.
If your thinking about going to Borek ask a captain that started from fo moved up see what he has to say because I promise you you wont get all the sunshine blown up your ass that some of these guys are giving
Also I don't know one fo that got over 1000 hrs last year
You will never live long enough to know it all, so quit being anal about it..

Much better. I had one of those once (before I switched to brunettes
) but it was black. Got one with a 650 Bonneville on it? Had one of those new.
Oh right, about this thread? If it is true that Borek sucks, then either management knows it does and will try and remedy it or they don't care. Either way, as long as it doesn't cause them a loss of business, who else cares?
Nobody cares about the rabid posters on either side, they are dismissed as cranks, so the 'middle' posts are the ones believed, so most of what has been said is reasonable, no?
JC's pictures and trip log is very cool; perhaps in order to do that sort of work, your corporate culture is going to tend towards the militant. But maybe not.

Flying up north isnt for every pilot. Being up north is what you make of it, and the more you get use to it the more you enjoy it. I was flying up north for a while then went down south and flew out of a major city back where I grew up thinkin this is what I wanted, and I didnt like it for a minute. I ended up going back up north, it gave me an appreciation for the north. Theres nothing exciting or fun flying an airplane into a 2 mile long runway with an ILS to ILS. When you get to land a 705 aircraft on a 2900 ft gravel strip with mountains all around, whats more fun in the end. All depends on the person and what you want out of this career.

Going up north isn't the problem here 185/310. I had some fun times there. That episode of drunken christmas carolling in the crew van in YFB was priceless! I'd love to see the pics Brent and his wife got of us.
10 guys getting out of the same van another time and just walking home because the POS died in the middle of the street was equally funny. (although not at the time)
Lots of good experience for sure much of which I reference or at least remember on a daily basis flying today. The problem was the way management treated the majority of the people, clean that up and Borek would be a great place to work long term.

Well said 185. Been up north for 3 years now in this 705 buisness and loving it more everyday. Flying into Pang at 43,000 lbs circling for 24 in the dark season ... I really don't think I could get that kind of feeling on "vectors for 24R"...185/310 wrote:Being up north is what you make of it, and the more you get use to it the more you enjoy it.
That's just me though, it's definitly not for everyone. If you have to be told what to do and can't make decisions on your own then perhaps you should go to Jazz, you'd be well suited there.
Best line to date summing up Jazz "We're not happy until you're not happy"
