Q400 Gear Problems
Anybody have any comment on this? Is there really a design problem or is it just maintenance that is being performed incorrectly? If it is corrosion related, then what may be causing it? Are they pressure washing the gear with an incompatable chemical? Are they using the wrong consummable products for gear lubrication? Is gear rigging being performed correctly? Something just doesn't smell right and I think the aircraft is being unfairly targeted. You have to wonder why one specific company is having these repeated gear problems in a relatively short span of time. If you have some experience on this type, I'm interested in your opinions.
I'm sure the international press are going to have a field day with this story and that is unfortunate for the industry and Canada's reputation as a first class aerospace manufacturer.

I think its either a maintenace related problem at the operators who've had "uncontrolled" landings or possibly a problem with a certain batch of material used in the construction. To target the whole fleet as unsafe is just not fair, horizon fly's the wings off the things and hasn't had a problem yet, all the issues seem to be with a couple of operators.
