Lost A/C Records

Post by star57 »

Question...Is it possible to Import an A/C without records...I guess they were lost, what would be the process and cost, A/C is a 2002 C172SP aprox. 3100 hours TT
TIA

It's probably not worth the effort. If you have no certification for any part of the airplane it's kind of hard to prove that it's serviceable.

Ditto with Twotter. We almost did this for a Client at one place I worked.
Ended up it would have been cheaper for the Client to Buy new and bring in then to Do all the hoops for The no record Aircraft. If it is a steal it might be worth it. But for going rate better look elsewhere.
Good luck.

I agree with both of the above. We just brought one in that had logs missing, and let me tell you, it was the biggest rigamaroll I have ever seen! Unless the aircraft is dirt cheap, don't do it! It's really not worth the effort and money it's going to take to jump thru all of TC's hoops.

I think that you might not have too much troulble with the airframe being that it is so new. If you could get a build spec sheet from Cessna (at sellers expense) then you could verify all the SN's and you might get by ok. But.... the hard part will be if you can prove the accumulated hours to track your life limited components. (not sure how many on a 172) If you have some way to determine hours, engine o/h record, and a build spec sheet, i can see it working out.

This is a small example but I had a engine yolk for a RJ200 that had no tracking and the best I could hope for just to start the process of recertifying it was putting the same TAT that sn 7001 The very first RJ on it, then you get to do the SB AD and out of phase tasks for however may hours. Yah so anyway I made work buy a new one call me mister popular :) I know its two apples and oranges but they both have wings.
