Airborne Emergency YVR
Anyone know what the cause of the airborne emergency was in YVR today Nov 6, later morning/early afternoon. Looked like 08L was closed for a bit and reopened shortly afterwards following an inspection.
Hope all is well with those onboard.
Cheers

Re: Airborne Emergency YVR
We heard them on the radio...Jazz we were told with smoke in the cockpit. Not sure if it was a Dash or an RJ but we landed about 10 minutes before then. Didn't hear or see anything after that.Dispatch wrote:Anyone know what the cause of the airborne emergency was in YVR today Nov 6, later morning/early afternoon.

Here's the CADORS for it. Looks like mainline, not ACJ.
Air Canada Flight ACA142, an Airbus A333 IFR Vancouver (CYVR) to Toronto, departed CYVR at 1625Z. At 1650Z (in the vicinity of Princeton) the pilot requested return to CYVR, declaring an emergency due to a possible hydraulic problem and noxious fumes. It was requested that medical personnel be standing by for quick access to the aircraft. ACA142 landed safely on Runway 08L, and stopped on the runway for inspection by emergency crews. The aircraft taxied to the gate at 1731Z. There was no evacuation of passengers. The runway re-opened at 1734Z.
