Air Inuit
Moderators: sky's the limit, sepia, Sulako, North Shore
They are on a 3 week rotation, in northern quebec. the pay is really poor. engineer with no ACA 36000/year. they have a few people working for them that will screw you over in a heart beat. they have 2 northern bases. one is Lagrande ( a french town ) they work only on HS 748 . this base is really slack. work 4-8 hours a night ( you are on salary ) the other base is YVP they have twin otters and king airs. they work like slaves there, and they probably go through on average one guy every 2 weeks. ( place is a dive )
everything the DOM promises you, make sure its in writing or you will never see it.. one more thing, they like to take a few years to give you your raise, then they promise that it will be ritro.. i would keep looking if i were you.

I see someone has a grudge on air inuit!! it is not worse than any other company out there. and by the way I heard pay scale has been revised, salaries indicated in job ads seem to match what I heard.

Air Inuit has just restructured there pay scale as aresult of not being able to keep the employees they have let alone attract new ones. Now an engineer with no ACA can get between 44 and 52 grand a year, depending on experience. The benefits are pretty decent (or atleast comparable) as well.
Two bottles of whiskey constitutes one item!
working up north...
I worked in YVP for one year and a half, what I could say is the money is very poor for working up north. but if you want some interesting experience, don't go there because if they don't like you, they will give you shitty jobs. And the pay between each base is different and they paye more money if you want to work in montreal. but even if you are working on rotation, you still have to pay your rent down south. But if you can work in kuujjuaq for air inuit, you will be able to work everywhere.
And I know that they have lost like 3 ingeeneer only in kuujjuaq in the past 2 months, so maybe there is a sign of someting going on in there...

From what I hear, the $44-$54 is only for the ACA guys, so unless you have a HS 748 course, I am willing to bet you will be making around $36.
and I also cought wind that there night shift crew chiefs are pissing everyone off and driving the engineers crazy. they need to can a few NIGHT shift crew chiefs, raise the pay up to atleast industry standards ( $44- $55 thats not even apprentice wages for up north ) then they might get people to stay.
Until then all I can say is stay away from this company.
