PT6 Course in Montreal

Post by planeguy »

Does anyone know how I can get my ass in a PT6 course in montreal. I don't expect to get it through my company any lifetime soon and would like it as part of my arsenal. I don't mind paying dough for it since it's a pretty good longterm investment.

Does anyone know if they only allow AMEs in the course? I have my A&P and will be getting my M1 in the near future.

Does anyone know how to get into Westjet's 737-2 or 7 courses other than being part of the company?

training

Post by KKboy »

The PT 6 courses at P+W can be viewed at :http://www.pwc.ca
Select the course schedule.
Nothing available at the moment however, there were -27 slots about 10 days ago.
The next slots will become available in 2005.
Some one mentioned Standard Aeo in Winnipeg has training but I cannot confirm this.

I am not sure about applying, it is always good to have a sponsor such as an owner or operator recommend you but it is not mandatory. I took the PT6 Heavy Mtce with just a letter to P+W requesting a slot.

737 training is available at Alteon/ Boeing in Washington. You can contact them and get put on a list for available courses. They often run in house training for operators and have slots available. Expect to pay 7000 however this is JAR147 training.
Don't buy any thing that is not 147 as there is a good possibility it will not be recognized any where except in the counrty it is approved.

Hey Planeguy,

Go to cascadeaerospace.com look under services and the have a training section. They do the 737 and 757. I contacted westjet a while ago about courses but unfortunately I deleted the contact. If I recall the 737NG was $10000 and 4 weeks in Calgary. This was about 2 years ago. I have taken courses at Boeing and I would highly recommend them, but like KKboy says take a close look at the accreditation. Good luck! I wish there were more people with your motivation.

This is the 400 course in Toronto Flight Saftey available to any one with $7500 USD and expenses to spend.

Dash 8 Q400 Maintenance Initial
This course is designed to meet the training requirements of the technician with limited experience maintaining Q400 aircraft. The course objectives are aligned with ATA Code 104 Level III recommendations for all aircraft systems other than avionics. The avionics systems instruction is aligned with ATA Code 104 Level II recommendations.
Maintenance training instructional materials and training manuals are used to teach systems on the Q400. I heard from a AME at work that all you need for the P&W is a letter saying you work for a company who has a pratt product. You sign up first then they will provide you with the info on where to send the leter. After that the training should be free and all you to pay is transportation to and from montreal, hotel, food, and strip expenses.

Who do you work for planeguy---PM me if need be

If your company runs PT6's, then you are good to go. The courses are free to operators, all you have to do is get yourself there. They are very good and I highly recommend taking any chance of going. What else do you get from P&WC that is free?
If anyone hears of a PT6 troubleshooting course being put on, let me know. This course is the best of the lot I think!
