Jazz New Hire schedules
Hello,
Can any Jazz new hire F/O's give me an idea of what kind of schedules they are getting esp. those based in YVR? I've been offered an interview and am debating whether to leave my current position and try out for Jazz...
Anyone out there regret going to Jazz?? Is it a pretty good place to make a career??

No regrets from me coming here. Now that I am here I can say that I would have regretted not coming here, I love it.
As for the schedule, I have been here since april. When I am on block I am averaging around 13 days a month. I bid reserve this month and I am on call for 13 days this month.
Now this is out of YYZ, if you want YVR or YYC, they are very senior bases, you can expect to be on reserve for a LONG time and being that they are senior you are probably going to be on call 16-18 days a month.
cheers

You must have something else going on in the month, nobody does only 13 days of reserve in this company, unless you have vacation or training of some sort to fill the rest.flyinhigh wrote:No regrets from me coming here. Fill us in.
4 days, hahah
Well if you take what I have actually worked this month,
I had a 3 day carry in so far.
Flew the 9th, and 14th, Now on days off, go back on reserve on friday for 3 days, than off for the rest of the month.
Yes I did have 2 days training, so if you take that into account I've physically have worked 7 days this month.
I give a huge Thanks and a job well done to our scheduler here In YYZ. Considering I am on the bottom with only 30 below me, He has given me everything I have asked for and than some.
Keep up the good work

Wings West, you will end up on reserve when you start the line, especially if you find yourself lucky to be in YVR - you could end up on reserve for a long time. Life on reserve at Jazz is not like it is at Mainline. You will get 12 Days off that you can bid (just don't expect to get weekends and holidays off unless you move up the ranks on reserve). Some months training is inside the blocking window, and sometimes it is not. If it is not then you end up with 10 days off.
Generally speaking, unlike Capt's on reserve, you may find yourself not having to fly on a reserve day, however the strategy of bidding reserve just to avoid working (when you are senior) does not always work.

Just to clarify things for the folks looking to come to Jazz. If you are on reserve at Jazz you will be on call for at least 16-18 days every month. If you have training (sim, groundschool, crm etc) that number will drop. How many days you actually work is another story...
