Headset Conversions

Post by skywagon »

I was told that there is a upgrade kit to change older David Clark headsets to an ENC version. Is this true, and/or is it a seperate company that sells such a kit? D.C.'s website has no such info. I started flying when a handheld mike was the norm. The headset I have is still excellent, I just wanted to improve it if it was possible/feasible. Thanks in advance, S.

Some avionics shops can do it. There is one in Yorkton, SK that does it for a descent price.

You can buy the kit that you put in your headset. It leaves your headsets passive noise cancelling a little worse off because you have to remove some of the insulation. But the active noise cancelling improves the perfomance overall.

Depends what you fly. A really good headset like a 13.4 is quiet enough without going to an ENC setup. Maybe in a couple of years, but for right now, I wouldn't waste the bucks. Pardon?
