Low time jobs in BC
I'm a low time pilot (305 hrs.) looking for work anywhere in BC, preferably in the kootenays. I have a group 1 IFR and 50 hours multi. Any ideas as to where to start looking?

Re: Low time jobs in BC
I concluded early in my "dead-beat float driver" career that opportunity in aviation was a balance between - misery / poverty / danger.
I always went for optimizing the second. Of course this was in a different hiring climate. Still, a stint at "Moose Lips Lake Lodge" (or equivalent) flying a s***t-box Beaver 7 days a week kicking the frozen water rudders down after landings, w/ frozen-over static port and living in a mold-encrusted crew hut is good for the soul, er ........ or somethig. Plus you can save enough money to tide you over when you run screaming from that gig and have to pay huge dough for a multi IFR rating then crawl up the gage-driver ladder.

If you have any money left, you should get an instructor rating, you'll get hired for sure! Whether that is a good career path is debatable, but if I hadn't blown all my $ on a multi IFR, that's what I would be doing.
Or if you're willing to move, try driving across northern Manitoba with a few resumes. There may be openings there.

Flying airplanes is easy, you just need to PAY ATTENTION. Finding a good job on the other hand takes experience, practice, and some serious talent.
I'm originally from BC and really tested the market around the Lowermainland a few years ago... it was a tough go.
I did get a crappy part time instructing job after about 8 months of pounding pavement.... and I didn't get too much time
I would say if your willing to move somewhere... go to manitoba... lots of jobs either out of Winnipeg or there is even a place just south that will help you with and instructor raiting
