In other words... i'm 24, already have 2 college diplomas one music (whatever) the other in mechanical engineering but no university degree.
I've been many times in an aeroplane but never in the cockpit.
My parents are willing to help a little with the costs but still we're not Rockefeller.
Advice... What would you do if you were me... college or private school near my house? I'm in Montreal, for a FTU i'm considering Laurentide Aviation.
Cheers!
How old is too old to attend college? college Vs FTU!

If I were you I'd go to the local flight school and just start taking some lessons there, just to make sure you truly want to become a pilot. If you've never been in the cockpit before you really want to make sure it's what you want to do before you fork out a whole lot of cash.
Personally, I'm a Aviation College fan, but that's more of an opinion than anything else.

If you can afford it, go FTU, just make sure it is what you want, and when you do start training, do it as fast as you can! In other words, don't fly just once a week, I'd shoot for 4 to 6 times a week! This way you'll attain your goals that much faster, you will spend less money and the learning process will be greater because you won't have to re-learn stuff!
Don't rule out college though, If you don't mind spending another 2-3 years in school!

Before I make any decision I'll start by taking a few introductory flights... On my list there's Laurentide Aviation, ALM Par Avion, and Cargair... that way i'll get a feel for the FTU environment and possibly log a few hours toward a PPL. Any suggestion of a good FTU near montreal?
