Yeah Im singing the debt blues. Im 20 in the holy moly...got a joe blow job after training while living at home, thought I was getting somewhere with the debt and then took a flying job and headed west! Now its slowly creeping back and I cant shake it...but hey I honestly believe from what Ive seen, being fairly young, its worth it.
Anyone else loaded with the debt blues? and posting saying you owe your parents 40,000 dont count i want to hear from the poor people who made themselves more poor.

Types of loans
Does anyone has any banks or types of loans to suggest, all I've heard up to now is about a line of credit, which you have to pay interest every month. That is kind of difficult if you're a student that is on his own, in a new city, living a new life, so does anyone know about any other type of loans?

Actually, what you just posted sounds fishy. If it is, then please restrain yourselves from posting or advertising such things, seriously the moderators should watch for such posts. I am serious about my training, like most of the people here, and if you're trying to look for naive people here, you`re not in the right place.Walker wrote: Well I might be able to work something out for ya, how’s about 30K to get started, The juice will be running at 40%, and ill need the names addresses and photos of your parents, siblings, and significant others for the past few years…

RIMsky...if you really are "serious" and you can't see the comments were "tongue in cheek" you have a very Long road ahead of you. I mean this in the nicest possible way, but, come on man, Walker is pulling a funny here. Get it? It's a JOKE!!!
Could somebody tell me where I could find Herman Nelson? He never returns my calls!

Hey
Well, sorry then, hehe, English is not my first language, thus I do not always get the connotations to the language. I do speak it well, but then again, there is always much more to learn. But seriously guys, I am looking for a bank or a government loan, has anyone done this before, any ideas, tips, tricks?
Thanks!

Being from Quebec, your best bet would be, I think, head into the admissions office at your own school, and ask what they know on the subject. That, and drive out to Ontario for a visit to Seneca, if that's the route you really want to take. The folks at Seneca can, and will point you in the right direction.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Thanks. I am going right now, and as soon as I get out of there I will post here ASAP, so that other people can benefit off of my questions. If anyone has other info to add, please don't be shy!!!Doc wrote:Being from Quebec, your best bet would be, I think, head into the admissions office at your own school, and ask what they know on the subject. Update: Apparently, if the school is not in a Quebec district, then the Province of Quebec does not finance it. Another reason why Quebec would refuse to finance me in Ontario would be if the same program exists in Quebec, which is totally not the case. My school financial aid advisor told me that it is best for me to write a letter to the governement Financial Aid office and give them my request, then only will I get a real answer on the circumstances. If anyone else has questions on this issue, I can try and ask them for you guys.
Cheers to everyone!

At the risk (like I really care) of ruffling some feathers here, Quebec is really only about Quebec. I'm not surprised to hear they will not assist a student outside their little Kingdom. Only in Quebec. Serves them right if you get your education in another Province, and never go back. Now, if you pay for your education in Manitoba, and work there for a certain time....they'll reimburse all your tuition!
Hey
To be frank, I am of European origin. I care, but I don`t care. We are all Canadians down the line, and frankly politics has done nothing but turn people against each other. As for Quebec, I really do hope they finance me. If not, to hell with it, I`ll find a solution, there are no limits to one's dream. So no feathers scruffed!

There is no short cuts to your question. You either take out a huge ass loan and do everything in one shot, only to find yourself unemployed or working ramp/McDonald's for minimum wage, or pay as you go as much as possible and take out small loans/lines of credit as you go along.
Some people are lucky to have rich parents, I'm not one of them. I have 2 jobs, weeks go by without a day off sometimes, and I work extra hard to pay rent, food, transportation, college debt, credit cards, phone bill, etc plus flight training. Shitty jobs in the hospitality field has delayed me 2 years, yet I keep going.
It takes longer, but its doable by anyone who's not scared of hard work. I don't really have a social life anymore, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I don't fly off people's taxes, I don't work for free, and I do try to keep a positive attitude about the whole thing, even though its a long sour road ahead.
This is not an industry for anyone, it takes determination and persistance to make it at any level, but never give up on it, if flying is what you truly wanna do.

Timing is everything.
I worked for three years in a REAL job before deciding to become a broke ass pilot. That said, i saved enough for a down payment on a condo, which I intend to sell to cover my student loans, and yes there are a ton of them. Otherwise I did the scholastic flight training route which meant that there was scholarship opportunities. Boy does it ever help to tell someone 'yeah I am in a business degree program, but the flying this semester is $19,000, so I guess I qualify for financial need?!!'
There are a lot of scholarships out there for a variety of different applicants. All said, this being my last year of my program, I have been able to get $11,000 in scholarships and bursaries. That with my $14,000 student loan has made my life a little easier. Been renting out my condo to cover my costs and working a descent job. Guess my point is that it is do-able, but you gotta turn all the stones you can think of.
On a related topic though, I think the whole cost thing is BS! Why aren't there more funding programs out there for aspiring pilots? In todays training environment, you are either some spoiled rich kid, or someone who plugs away at their training for years before they are in a possition to get a job. Why aren't the airlines, or TC or the Govn't providing more funding so we are training the 'best qualified' applicants as apposed to the one's with the richest parents? Why not qualify a pilot as a registered trade through an apprentise program? Shit they certainly have to be as skilled as any trades person.... Better yet, pay them like doc's and lawyers when they are done their training so 1) banks will give them loans, 2) they can pay them back in a decent period of time.
