Content of a contract ?
I am preparing a contract of employment and would like some SERIOUS responses concerning the content of a new contract between a employee and employer. I have wages, expenses and trip rates so far. What other items should be stated to protect both parties? Your hind-sight on previous contracts could be helpfull.
Thanks
Thanks
Schedule, days off, vacation days/pay, overtime, benifets.
How will you be paid? salary, defination of duty time and how it apply's to calculating overtime, daily rate, millege, training rates, perdiums, ferry flight rates.
lodgeings/dayrooms. Holding pay.
rest periods - And I don't mean 8 hours wheels down to wheels up.
A few ideas. I hope this helps, ive never written an agrement before, and these are items of argument I've come across.
Cheers.

How about specific duties? i.e. are you being paid to fly the aircraft and associated paperwork or are you being paid for anything and everything i.e. cleaning toilets?
How about payment terms - how often, how much and by what method?
Are you self-employed (charge GST) or employed?

I'll assume you're talking a contract as a pilot. Because if you're a librarian, I'm afraid this is the wrong board for advice.
Number one, as Snoopy pointed out...the term of the contract. Is it for a week, month, or are you going day by day. I like the day by day route...simply because $300 per day sounds like a real bargin compared to $9000 per month...do the math! I like to keep things simple. That way there are less loop holes on both sides. So much per day, they look after all expenses including food and lodging....you pick the lodging, and have a certain $$ amount for food. They should cover all transportation...you should be out of pocket NOTHING....and they'll want to see receipts...screwings go both ways! Now, I assume you have some skill in an airplane that's either rare or at least unusual? So, if this is the case, you are an important part of the owner's operation, and therefore, he's not out to rip you off. But dont rip him off...and it could lead to a happy relationship.
About benefits...there wont be any. You are an independent(sp?)contractor. Kind of like a plumber.
Holidays...ditto....you are a contractor...you're not going to get holidays.
Make sure you're on his insurance policy.
As far as duty times etc. are concerned...just stick to the normal rules of engagement...you know, CARS.
I would try to arrange for a car....most ops have a staff car you can use.
Play nice with the other pilots...enjoy!
