Gear Up CYVR

Post by Switchfoot »

08L closed down as airplane lands with gear up in YVR just a few moments ago. PASCO or JAZZ.

Didn't quite catch the call-sign as we were final 08R but watched the emergency vehicles chase 'em out.

Hope everyone is okay. Good job to crew...looks like they made it! Safe flying everyone.

It was a Pasco Shorts 360 with a faulty gear indication on a YVR to YYJ flight. Returned to YVR and landed safely on it's wheels.

Glad to hear it was just an indication problem!

Sucks to see/hear when someone has to belly land.

You mean the wheels go up and down in a Shorts? Why??

But, seriously, if you suspect that you have a problem, Fess up and have CFR on standby. If it was just an indication problem. Oh well! If it was for real and the gear collapses and CFR is not there, OOPS!!!

Wasn't just an indication problem Rowdy. Gear pin had to be bashed into place using the pogo after they landed in order for it to be safe enough to taxi to the hangar.

Narrative: Pacific Coastal Airlines Flight PCO113, a Short & Harland SHD6 IFR Vancouver (CYVR) to Victoria (CYYJ), departed CYVR for CYYJ with 27 souls on board and 1800 lbs of fuel. Upon approaching CYYJ, the pilot reported experiencing problems with the left main landing gear. After several fly-bys in front of the CYYJ Control Tower, the pilot was able to confirm that he had a problem with the port main gear. At that point, the pilot requested a return to CYVR and declared an emergency. Emergency Response Services and the Rescue Coordination Centre were alerted. PCO113 conducted a 'fly by the CYVR Control Tower' for a visual inspection after which the aircraft landed on Runway 08L uneventfully, taxied clear of the runway, and shut down for a visual inspection. The aircraft moved to the south terminal under its own power. There were no delays to other airport operators.

C-GGGQ. Not sure if you read that properly. It was NOT an indication problem. Although the gear was down, it did NOT lock and the pins wouldn't fit in and had to be forced in so they could taxi safely. Good job on the landing though not to force the gear to hard and have it collapse.
