Flying A320/A330 mixed fleet based in Sri Lanka.

Flying both types is a lot of fun and surprisingly straight forward.

Tax free salary in US$ (shame about the declining dollar).

Routes:- India, Middle East, East Asia, China. Don't do the European flights.

Best part of the job - I get left alone to do my job (been called once by my Chief Pilot in 2.5 years)

Layovers in Bangkok, Mumbai, Maldives, Kuwait and Dubai.

Amazing variation in weather from the Monsoon to Cat III.

EMB driver@AC, good gig seniority move fast, I was driving a Dash@Jazz before (had lots of fun), not the best money, but my lucky number gave me a good schedule, working Monday to Thursday, should be able to do the same on the EMB in the next month....

BTW all of you wankers bashing Toronto (again) haven't obviously lived there, or if they have were too redneck to get any pussy. You dumasses have this huge hard-on with hating Toronto when the problems in ALL of Canadas other centers are worse per-capita. And Kitcheners crime rate is the highest in the country for small cities. I've lived in Kitchener and I am still wipping the stench of white trash off of me.

Kitchener's like a lot of towns in Canada. Are you saying all those towns are full of white trash rednecks? What, too many blue collar types for you? Canada is defined by it's working class hinterlands not by the corporate big centers. You are displaying just why people don't like Toronto...arrogance. Stay in your little bubble (Toronto) if you like. The rest of the country has much more to offer the rest of us Canadians.

Anyway this thread was about job satisfaction. Yes I am satisfied with my job but certainly not over-satisfied. Its night freight, but its with a good company. We're treated alright and the pay is fair. I do find it boring at times and sometimes miss bush flying but all in all its a good job. We complain at times but it could sure be a lot worse!

From a proud small town chevy redneck![/quote]

WTF are you talking about? Kitchener a "hinterland?" Only someone who has never been there, or someone from a much bigger city, would call a city with the size and location of Kitchener, a hinterland. I grew up in Cambridge and can say with absolute certainty that Kitchener is gross, right up there for dirty with alot of other cities down in that general area, Hamilton, London, Sarnia, Windsor, the list goes on. Southern Ontario is great if you stick to the small towns. Most of the bigger cities are pretty gross though.

Well, I live in Ziang Xiu (Vancouver BC) and I have to pay to fly a Cessna 172...which sucks. But that will change soon enough I hope. I do have my own dragger which is fun as fuk to fly.

OK, you're right, it's a big town, so what. That wasn't the point. It was about a Torontonian saying another town was full of white trash because it's "not Toronto".

Just so's we don't get too off track here... In the summertime, I fly a Beech 18 on floats (right up there on the list of world's greatest airplanes), for a company in which I am part owner and helped to create. I work with one of the best engineers in the business (the other partner) and together we work our asses off just to survive.

My partner and I have total say in how we run the company and the quality of service we provide. We put everything we had/have into the airplane, to making it look great and fly right and the job is its own reward.

Someday, we might make enough to get paid, but I never regret climbing into the airplane, no matter how hard we work or how early the hour...

Cheers,
Snoopy

There is a lot of satisfaction in this business, sometimes hard to find but it is there. One of the great satisfactions in the job is knowing that the a/c is being looked after by a competent, knowledgeable pilot and my partner Snoopy is one of the best I have worked with.
On occasion we can be like cats and dogs but there is no doubting her ability and the last thing I ever have to worry about is the a/c being abused. She spent 11 days in the bush with me this summer on an unscheduled engine change, doing nothing but driving me crazy. The truth is that I could not have done it without her. We are constantly struggling for survival in a difficult market but together, making it work.
I have watched her take a lot of undeserved flak from others in the business and she is probably sick of taking crap from me. The real satisfaction is watching the a/c come back to the dock, knowing I do not have to question how the a/c was treated.
At 60+ years old, I have worked with many of them and she rates with those at the top.

I tip my hat to you Snoop and thank you for your efforts

Cold Lake Port on my 30 x 20 deck and street fights around the corner. Fun for all...all for fun.

Besides, where else can you tap a goon on the head with a baseball bat then go out for a few pints afterwards...no where else on earth.

Our slogan....
