What's the longest wait to hear from the interview so far

Hi,

I was wondering from those of you out there what the longest time it took between your interview and getting a PFO or a competitive candidate letter.

So far I've cracked 13 weeks and thopugh I am grateful I haven't yet recieved the PFO, I'm starting to pull on my collar a bit.

A friend of mine waited close to 6 months before the PFO came.

What do you mean by that? Flying you first class to Vancouver and back, scheduling it to your requirements? The Interview has the same tone and some of the same questions you find at Jazz, West Jet, and Canadian North. I never felt dis-respected. If you mean the psych tests, well, who knows what they are getting at with those honestly. I didn't even think about the answers when I did them. Other companies in aviation and in other Industries use much more intrusive questions than the ones posed on those exams, often you have to give the answer to a real shrink and justify it.

Ya totally, those First Class flights were sooo disrespectable! Especially when they took my coat, I mean the nerve of them to personally hand it back to me after. And those basic behavior questions they ask to find out what kind of person you are in the interview, who do they think they are anyway. That doesnt even compare to places like Cathay who ask if your married, whats your age, do you plan on having kids, whats the square root of 123,456,789 in your head or what was our revenue last year and why do we use certain engines on our planes, or what routes do you figure we will use the 777 300ER on. Ya the AC interview was pretty rediculous.

I couldn't forget the helpful and smiling receptionist. The nice proffesional interviewers. The encouraging and courteous personnel at head office. Wow, if that's not disrespect I don't know what is

I don't believe the interview itself is disrespectful. The fact that they've kept some prospective candidates on the hook for up to six months after they've completed the recruitment process is disrespectful of any company. Air Canada or not.

If it's been more than 8 weeks since your interview you should be calling or emailing Cathy Vining to find out what happened. You should have her contact info if you did in fact have an interview.

There's no doubt the long wait is frustrating. I don't think they do this on purpose to make you suffer. Some people seem to take less time than others. Who knows. AC needs to fix alot of things. This is certainly one of them. Still a classy joint though. You'll get a better idea once you're in. Hang in there.

Thanks a lot everyone,

I do want in pretty bad but want to go about it the right way. At 8 weeks I sent an email where she told me to hang in there another 2 weeks, after that I sent another and haven't got anything since. I guess I'll give her a call on Monday, not that my 14 weeks is anything close to some of the guys on here that have posted so far.

I was 12 weeks to the day, with the competive candidate letter. I was also told if I did not hear anything to call in 6-8 weeks however everyone I knew who had called was told to just wait longer so I did not bother. Near the end though I was getting a little worried. I don't think there is anything you can do to speed up there process so just hang tight

Ladies and Gents,

My mistake...I wasn't completely clear.
What I meant was that the length of time AC makes candidates wait is unnecessary and unprofessional (rather than the whole process in general). There is no need for a company to take months to decide whether they want someone, only to send them a PFO. Yes, that is disrespectful.

Is AC a good gig? I'm sure it is...
I was really just commenting on the lengthy wait times; toying with many pilots fantasy.

I'd be interested in knowing with what standards most of you applied for air canada. Most of us dream of being accepted there, and to even get called for an interview, is already something! Anybody wish to share, number of hours, ratings, training, path taken?

Almost everyone I know says that if you are a strong candidate you will hear inside the 6-8 weeks.

Many I know were only 2 weeks from interview and 3 to 4 days from medical. How many on here got on with AC with notices longer than 8 weeks?

Not many I would suspect?

As far as I understand the process is something like this,

they interview-medical-test etc all candidates who get called in.

They grade and judge the strength of your application process results... .if you are weak... you will know rather quickly. If you are strong... you will know rather quickly. if you are an acceptable candidate, but there are more "suitable" candidates for immediate hire (ie. strong ) then you go in the "POOL". you swim in the pool for as long as 6 months (thats the longest ive heard or there abouts). After that they no longer keep you in the pool and you are "purged" from said pool ie. the PFO letter. I think the hard part for most to accept is that there is no updating or answers while swimming in the pool (what are they supposed to say anyways!?!)

I have no direct sources just interested insiders whom were kind enough to let me know what they know.
