I don't know about law suits, but I flew Airtransat all summer back and forth to Amsterdam and they sure had good load factors.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

"Learn from the mistakes of others as you might not live long enough to make them all yourself"... or something to that effect!
Has everybody forgotten that or are you all too busy pointing fingers, laying blame or starting rumours???
Rebel ;
"What are the chances that AT will survive long term the lawsuits that are going to occur as the result of the findings in the accident report? Me thinks they have a problem…"
Pika;
"Might be easier to farm all your work out to a Canadian low cost carrier built on the Southwest model and start again."
I guess some of you would be happy to see us disappear...

I heard that the captain was let go 2 years later, on another completely different incident. Other than that, He did a fantastic job of landing the plane. Although Yes as the job of the pilot is a systems monitor, it could of been identified and dealt with before it became a huge problem. But, what a tough situation to be in. I think it came down bad maintenence and a bad decision. Resulting in one bad scenario.

I certainly don’t wish AT any bad will at all, however what happened happened and now the reality of what lawyers do best is about to happen.
Bon Chance
golden hawk
That's the point the future cost of their insurance is going to make going forward very expensive.

Hun in the Sun;
your sources are wrong as Capt. Piche is still flying the A330 for AT.
Pika and Rebel;
having flown at AT for the last 8 years, I'm convinced that Mr. Eustache and his associates have prepared for the worse over the last 3 years. They could see it coming.
Also, Pika, I'd like to know where you hold your information from regarding the 400$ mil. law suit? It was originally 30$ mil.

Here's one reference... from today's National Post, 30$ mil. on behalf of 193 pax.

Integrity schmegrity, the passengers have a right to sue, and let the courts figure it out. After all if I had paid good money to fly to Portugal, and I ended up in the Azores, experienced a terrifying 19 minute engine out glide, thinking I was going to end up as fish food, I would sue too. Wouldn't I deserve compensation for my trauma?

Funny thing his name 'Piche' in Portuguese means 'Dick' as in the male genetalia.
Piche or 'Dick' is doing Tony Robinson type seminars on ..."How you can accomplish anything you put your mind to" all over the Province of Quebec. 10K and more a pop everytime he opens up his mouth to speak of his insights on internal strength.
But hey...at least he saved all those people all the while never losing his ash off of his cigarette.

Piglet, I'm not saying they shouldn't be compensated for their troubles, but just because you have a scare on an aircraft doesn't mean you should sue the company into the ground. Should you sue because you got really scared flying in a thunderstorm and wet your self?
Should you sue because the engine started with a bang and you crapped your pants?
This is a whole new mentality that's getting worse. Just look south to see what ambulance chasing lawyers are doing there.

Pika here is the bit about the CVR
Following the occurrence landing, in order to offload passenger baggage and belongings, there
was a requirement to power up the aircraft. The crew was aware that applying power would result
in the overwriting of the CVR recording, and sought advice as to how to disable the recorders.
Unfortunately, the circuit breakers pulled, did not disable the CVR and disabled the A330
CVR protection circuit breaker, which resulted in the loss of 90 minutes of CVR recording...

Obvious you're new here and you work for TS in YMX. You may be in the flight ops working late at night with one or two cool halogen lights on. Waiting for you night departures to blast off over to the coast. Did they all manage to get sat phones installed in the AC's so do you have to use the UHF still? Give a shout out to the crew sked dept just on the other side of the wall for me will ya. Are they still on 3&4 schedule? When did they put that gate up in the entrance on the parking lot? What ever happened to Guy the bar tender at the Chateau de Mirabel, he worked there for nearly 30 years. Too bad they shut 'er down...I had a lot of good times there. Also in St. Jerome.SkyLounger wrote: real slick comments Birddog, you really a mod???
SkyLounger...if there is anything I said that is not correct with Capt Piche...you can pm. Frankly I was being nice I thought.
But because you are new and welcomed here....I'll expain that I am a bit of an arse on here and have been granted Mod status because I am the only MOD that owns a penthouse Loft to hold MOD meetings.
Tell the cafteria ladies just down the hall from your desk I said hello. Whats the soup this week?

"Obvious you're new here"
Let's see...15 feb 2004 vs 18 feb 2004, ok maybe
"and you work for TS in YMX"
definitely...
"You may be in the flight ops working late at night with one or two cool halogen lights on. Waiting for you night departures to blast off over to the coast."
Wrong! I'm in the pointy end of one of those pointy nosed machine
blasting off over to the coast.
"Give a shout out to the crew sked dept just on the other side of the wall for me will ya."
Sure, let me know your name!!!
"I had a lot of good times there. Also in St. Jerome."
Good for you! All the more reason not to b**ch about an ex-coworker.
"But because you are new and welcomed here....I'll expain that I am a bit of an arse on here "
Once again, I'll give it to you...3 days...but no need to explain, I kind of figured it out...

Ah ha! With only 17 posts to your name you are playing like an old seasoned vet.
Welcome indeed.
As far as 'Bi***ing out my ex-coworker...just making light of the irony that he is now "livin' the dream" making 10-20K a pop at his inspirational gatherings. However I AM glad everyone one got on the ground safely including him...no matter what reports are generated and who is at fault.
He will attest to the fact that he and I had a few great times getting 'loaded' and staggering in the streets of Paris together looking for trouble. Unlike some on here....I don't walk on water and have a fair amount of phucks up in my career. If it were not for his experience from FL340 down...this would be a different post from me or none at all because I would have lost many friends, like I did July 11, 1991 in the Nationair crash.
Fly safe Sky Lounger!

I defenitely think that without lawyers this would be a non-issue. I think Lionel Hutz said it best...
