Tips to Study for CPL Written

Hello,

I've searched avcan for the threads on tips for studying for the CPL written and am just looking for any ideas floating around? I will be writing the CARAC Exam (Commercial Airplane Alternate Category Conversions exam, for CPL-H to CPL-A conversions, 35 questions on Air Law, Upper Level Met, Theory of Flight, Airframes, Engines and Systems, etc) and what I have been doing is going through the TC CPL-A Test guide and going subject by subject and writing out the Essential Knowledge Subjects and the subjects I also consider essential, my reasoning for going through the entire CPL-A guide as opposed to just the subjects I should study for CARAC is, I am doing my Flight Instructor rating after I am finished the CPL-A, and I would like to be a good and knowledgeable instructor, to be the best instructor I can be both for myself and my students, because I am not in this for time building. Any suggestions or tips?.

I used the Shaper Edge commercial Book. Excellent! actually you can buy mine if you want... i never wrote in it.

Im in the same boat. Don't have time to study and there is a lot of different information out there. I wish exams were as easy as the FAA.

Anyway, go through the Commercial Pilot Answer Guide, FTGU, AIM, know charts, CFS, all the regs you're responsible for and that should do it.

Oh yeah, for weather, NavCanada has some info, also you can use Wx Command.

How detailed is the exam?

Are the questions similar to the real thing? How's the CPAG?

if you want a study book with the questions that are as similiar as possible to the real deal....its called "The Commercial Pilots Answer Guide" even has a sample exam after you go through all the qeustions....really good book...any FTU should have it

I used this book when I studied for mine:

Heck, I'm still using it to study for my INRAT along with a few other things. Like to think of it as FTGU Gone Wild! Really solid book, and smokes another name that I cannot say.

I also used the Canadian Commercial Pilot Answer Guide. Worked wonders.

Combine those two books with the AIM and CARs, and you should be on your way.

I found the Canadian Commercial Pilot Answer Guide wayyyy to easy... I have that too if you want it.. 5 bucks... 20 for the sharper edge book.

Personally, I found the Sharper Edge the most similiar BY FAR. Its slightly harder at times, but a very very good prep book in my opinion.

The Commercial Pilots Answer Guide and Shaper Edge Commercial is all I used for my test. The book by which we can't name is only good for a door stop or starting fires. The transport test guide may help a fair bit too

Highsea im with you 100% I found ______ book so freaking aggrivating I literally took a stress leave from studying because of it!
