Another call for advises..

Post by prop music »

Since there are more ideas in 1000 heads than in one... :idea:

Ok people, here are the facts;

my GOAL: Work on a twin in charter operation
my SITUATION: CPL (no MULTI, no IFR) 300TT. Also, Helicopter CPL (no turbine). Finally, a 10 years experience working in aeronautic including 4 as a AME (not yet licensed)

So, any suggestions on what should be my best move toward my goal??
Thanks in advance :wink:

First you say that you would like a job on a twin then you say you don't have a twin rating! So, forget about the twin. With three hundred hours total time you cannot be picky. Go north young man; and work for an outfit with the possibilities of eventually getting a flying job. Work on the dock or hangar and be there if a flying job comes available. That is how I started in Whitehorse driving a truck for a flying outfit. When a flying job became available I was there and volunteered for the trip and I got it. From that time on I did not look back and my flying career had started. I worked for the outfit for six months before my first trip flying. During that time I drove a truck, picked up groceries, worked as a dock hand and did all kinds of other jobs. It did not take long for the outfit to see that I could be an asset to them. I made friends there and worked hard and it paid off. I speak of 45 years ago and it could well have changed somewhat but these are my two cents worth.
Good luck.

U should have spent more of your time and money on one of those fields (maybe2). You have become a jack of all master of none, and thats not saying you cant do more then one but get some time under your belt before you bite off more then you can chew. You have all this fantastic stuff but its all incomplete, heli no turbine, cpl no multi and ame no licence. Focus in and choose one to finish up then get er done, the rest of the stuff you can tidy up in your off time. Your best move is to get that multi or float and get working, you can work in the shop if you employer has an AMO. As for the chopper you can shop around when you have more flying time for an opp who runs both.

Sorry, my mistake! Maybe I shoud have been more specific...

I know that I won't get in that twin right seat with my actual experience, but I'm willing to "walk the walk" to get there... It's time for me to focus and take the next step, so now;

What do you think would make me more "interesting" for a operator?:

- Get my M2 AME license? (and start in their hangar for a while...)
or
- get my Twin IFR ? (but not a ton of hours...$$$ :cry: )
or
- build my single engine hours?

Thanks again!
