to new ac pilots
what have people been doing when they need to get their logbook certified but they do not want their current employer to know about an interview?
thanks
thanks
Re: to new ac pilots
I recommend that you get as many of your old employers to certify the logbook and then just get a training captain or another captain to certify your current logbook - someone you trust instead of your boss. As far as I know there isn't anything in the CARS that says you need to have your CP or Ops Mgr specifically be the ones to verify your time.
Also, you can have a stamp made up at staples or office depot for about $20-$30 with whatever you want on it to make it look nice and professional.
Cheers.

i thought of doing that, I am the training capt but I guess I can find someone else to sign it.

just sign it yourself. There is no Car's requirement anymore.
The force will be with you, always
Re: to new ac pilots
This has been asked and answered on here about a dozen times but I'll bite anyway. First, read the email from HR inviting you to the interview. It says that you need to have your logbook certified up to your current employer. They know that you may not want your boss to know. It goes on to say that if you are successful you will have to get it certified before you start.
Re-read that email and see what else you've missed.

Spaz is right. They know which way is up and realize that there are some employers who won't appreciate that their employee is looking for another job. In my interview I welcomed them to call my current chief pilot and they were quite surprised at that. The CAR's have nothing at all to do with Air Canada's requirements for time certification, so get everything certified but don't worry about your current employer if that's too difficult. Getting it certified when you leave will be just fine.
Re: to new ac pilots
I'll never be an ac pilot if i can't even read an email! at least I'll try not to be an azz to people on avcanada.

Don't be ashmed...that email is tougher to read than your average eye chart.
Re: to new ac pilots
OK, try not to be so sensitive, I'll try to keep the 'azz' to a minimum. You're right, those e-mails are freakin' hard to read with all of the different font sizes, colors, bolded(sp) areas and paragraph breaks. Cog test #1 I guess.

Re: to new ac pilots
I showed up to my interview with a recommendation letter from my Chief Pilot and the VP of flight Ops. Went in and told them upfront about the interview. I figured that I didn't want them getting any surprises. If your current employer is at all with the times, they are probably expecting to you to go sooner or later. Being honest with them will go along way if they call for a recommendation.
Just my two cents worth...

well I went in for the interview and not wanting them to talk to my present employer was received very well, in fact they said they don't blame me for not wanting them (present employer) to know.
also, for those with upcoming interviews, they've added something new... they give you an incomplete hold clearance and ask what is missing and then draw how you would enter the hold.

Re: to new ac pilots
They must be having trouble with the newbies and holding or something eh?. That's very strange.
Re: to new ac pilots
I think the hold diagram is definitely easy to a 3000 hour IFR pilot, but to a 5000 hour instructor it may be a different story, and they may be starting to realize that obtaning an ATP after 1500 hrs of circuit time is a problem...
