GEtting accpeted in Seneca
Hi everyone, I'm currently attending grade 12 in high school, so I'm just wondering about the difficulty of getting accepted into the aviation program at seneca college, is it highly competitive? and also the approximate cost of the program?
THANKS..
THANKS..
Re: GEtting accpeted in Seneca
not that difficult to get in. it will cost you upwards of $40,000. once you're in they'll go out of their way not ot kick you out of the program (unlike the good old days). unless you keep screwing up again and again. students have gone off the runway and had prop strikes and they're still in.
Re: GEtting accpeted in Seneca
So do you have any idea what the admission average for that program? I have a 75% but i heard that they only take about 80 students ayear which is considered kind of low..
Re: GEtting accpeted in Seneca
Well, a quick google search of "seneca aviation admission requirements" brings up this page:
http://www.senecac.on.ca/fulltime/FPR.html
......and it's still 65%. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if someone were to apply and not have that average and still get accepted. For whatever reason, the number of applicants has really dropped off in recent years.
I wouldn't say the program is competitive. It you pass the classes you'll stick around, which means you're not really competing with anybody. And even if you don't pass classes but you have a good enough attitude and profs like you, they'll find a way to keep you in if they can.
North of $40,000 for tuition sounds right, and then there's a couple thousand bucks in miscellaneous expenses you can expect through the years.

thank you for the reply..
I just have one question more.. I'm taking all the courses that are required for the aviation program except the physics course, and the only way for me to graduate this year is to take this course either in summer school or night school. However, its much easier for me to take it in summer school, but I'm not so sure about whether I will get accepted when I send my physics mark late after summer school.

As long as they know your taking it before classes start you shouldnt have a problem. They will probably just look at your grade 11 physics mark, if you have it.. I could be wrong though
Re: GEtting accpeted in Seneca
Talk to your guidance counselor about it and tell them that you wish to take Physics during nights school. I believe that at that point it is their responsibility to notify "ontariocolleges.ca" and then they forward the notification to Seneca.
When in doubt ask your guidance counselor.

Re: GEtting accpeted in Seneca
im dont really think its fair that they only take U level students. i mean people make mistakes in life and that was my first one. (thinking i wouldnt need to go to Uni) for me to upgrade, it would take me like a hole other year since im in grade 12 which is shit because i dont want to wait around for another year. i want to start my career. they should like have some sorta test or something saying your as good as someone in U level lol. because i bet id pass with flying colors. the world is a cruel place isnt it haha
Re: GEtting accpeted in Seneca
Well if i submit my physics mark after summer school, I will probably get a late acceptance or they wont accept me, and its a risk I really don't want to take, because I'm not even sure that I will like it in Seneca or be able to keep up (I heard that the first year is really hard) and if i drop off, I will just waste two years
I already talked to the guidance counselor, and she said that I can either take it in summer school or night school... but the thing is that if I take it in night school, I will also have to take calculus, functions (math), and english during regular school, so it's going to be really hard taking all those U courses. But I guess thats the only way to get in Seneca next year.
