Question about lost log book

Post by kurtis1981 »

I am about to go in to do my ATPL and am having trouble finding one of my log books (my first one) well i only have two, the second has almost a years worth of flying in it. I have to travel half way across the country to start looking at either my parents place in saskatchewan or my sisters in calgary. If i'm unable to find it what can i do? I have about 2500 hrs tt and only about 600hrs in current log book. Any advise will help.

well you can go through the logbooks of the a/c you flew to prove your time which could be nearly impossible, or you could make a declaration of your experience.

Thanks for the reminder. This is the time of year I photograph last year's log book entries and put them in the safe deposit box.

Wow you're dekcuf! That said I would be too if I lost my log books. I think it best to photo copy them and scan them electronically before I end up in your boat.

well there isn't much advise out there on what to do!! I know i should have photocopied my log book, but i never expected something like this to happen. Either way, not much i can do about it now.
So how would i go about doing a declaration of my experience? Does anyone think it's wise to call transport and see what they have to say?

I just recently had my logbook stolen. Go to transport and they will give you an Affidavit/Statutory Declaration to fill out, then take it to a notary public to get notarized.

There's a note on the bottom of the affidavit saying "Wherever practicable, corroborating evidence such as copies of journey log book entries shall be obtained, and this is mandatory for issue of an Airline Transport Pilot License."

Hope this helps.
