North Cariboo Hawker Captain ad
I see North Cariboo is advertising for 2 Hawker Captains.
Major qualifications are:
- 2000 hours multi-engine command.
- 500 hours Turbine time.
-4000 hours total time
Have they not got anyone they can upgrade from within?
Are things really that tight in the industry or are people getting bypassed?

I think they meant to put 500 jet. I would almost bet that the Turbine is a typo.
You need 500 hrs jet to be contrail on a heavy jet.
And then I would say that they don't have anyone internally that meets the qualifications.

Still letting some goof at "contrail" run the show out west?

I would say negotiable for a jet like that.

"letting' would imply that we had some say in the matter...Doc wrote:Still letting some goof at "contrail" run the show out west?
and contrail isn't as bad as some other customer requirments we need to meet.
Also its not 500 hours Jet, its apparently 500 hours Gas turbine. Heard that from the Chief last night.
its a beautiful airplane, I can't say what the pay was but I think the guys were doing pretty well. And they didn't work to hard!
Cheers

I believe they were at 75K. If you call that good for a hawker captain give your head a shake. Shouldnt be any less than 95K in my opinion which is more of a going rate

Re: North Cariboo Hawker Captain ad
When I first saw that, I tended to agree. Plus the ad specifies a minimum of a CPL, so I thought some editing might be forthcomming.I think they meant to put 500 jet. I would almost bet that the Turbine is a typo
However it's now been two full days and, judging from another post, NCA management is aware of the content.
So, I'm going back to my original question?

As long as the Operators continue to let that twit at Contrail and other independent consultants tell THEIR customers what is "safe," the minimums will continue to be there. You do have a say.

Couldn't agree more, I'm not in managment so I have no idea what is being done to address the mins, if anything. Although I know its definatly an issue for any 'contrail' company around Calgary.sky's the limit wrote:As long as the Operators continue to let that twit at Contrail and other independent consultants tell THEIR customers what is "safe," the minimums will continue to be there. Unfortunatly we have customers to please, and they quite often subscribe to the 'time = better pilot' belief which as we all know is not always the case.

Better things? Depends, flying a private jet for the right company and getting fair pay, living in yyc might be the best thing.
Re: North Cariboo Hawker Captain ad
Well it was bigger and better things for them.
One took a huge pay rise and gets to spend time where he wants to be and the other took a pay rise and gets to live where he wants to live.
Good on them.

If possible...Its better to stop then land...than land then stop!
