You guys are beauty. Haven't you heard of climbing the corporate @#$! ladder? Don't you realise that a low paying job at Carson will lead to a nice low paying job at Jazz?

The royal boning, she never ends.

I remember when Carson got his first Metro, the Cap't on that machine was being paid $28,000/yr, they had five or six hours a day to kill in Kamloops, and the the crew slept on a rotten foamy in the back of the plane..... You been to the Loops in summer? It's hot. Very hot.

But, people still want to work there, go figure.

Seems to me that most of the guy's that have worked there in the past 5 yrs are now at Westjet, a few at Jazz, some at Cathay and AC. Not a bad place to start your career. If you don't think so, don't apply, pretty simple!

If you subscribe to the "suffer now" theory, give er.

That may have been the case, then, I don't know....but wages are much higher than that now(i'll concede, though that they are still too low), accommodations are industry standard(hotel or company crew house), and the airplanes, while old(and remember some of these machines were in a very poor state when they showed up from navair), have finally been brought up to good working order. They are slowly being outfitted with modern GPS's, rather than the 20 yr-old clunkers that were in them before, and the sked is moving to a 4 on 3 off instead of 5 on 2 off. whether this has transpired yet, i don't know. But that is the intention.

I'll remind you that this job pays better than CMA for FO's and Captains, and your captain's upgrade will be a matter of 6-18 months, not 2-5 years.

The preceeding concerns the cargo operation.

The Medevac side is a much better story. Decent pay, and great schedule. Late model aircraft, with all the bells and whistles as is required by the BCAS contract. Why don't you all actually talk to someone who is currently working at Carson, so that you know what is going on now, rather than relying on ancient rumours that are extremely far from the current truth.

And then, if you think it is so crappy, don't apply. There are tonnes of other, way worse jobs that you can take.

A) It was the case, trust me, I was there. No rumor, just facts.

B) Second, I never said it was like that now, but that's most certainly how was.

C) As for applying, no chance, saw that outfit up close prior to ever getting licensed, they never saw my resume, of that you can be sure.

You are correct that the Medivac side is/was better, but that first Metro was a joke.

Just got called last week by CArson for the 350 job, I couldnt move fast enough and the poor girl choked out an offer of 19,000 to come as soon as I could and fly the metro. So this is still the wage for F/O's there.

probably an FO at a company where you are going to stay at for a long time, no doubt.

Trust me, I am not defending this company's pay...I am just saying the overall situation is not as bad as many would have you believe. That being said, the Metro ops are a grueling schedule for below average pay. Thing is, though most FO's don't stay at that pay very long....less than a year usually, due to capt upgrade. But, that's market ecomonics, my friends. When people stop taking those jobs, then things will change. For the record, I have never, and would never work in the conditions that the cargo ops have. I just understand the situation, that's all. I'll say it again: Might as well bitch about CMA as well, because their treatment of FO's is even worse in terms of pay, and longer for the Capt upgrade.

If your not adverse to living in Calgary, give Sunwest, Airsprint or Borek a try. They're all better companies and all hiring...even if they're not posting

People in BC don't know how shitty they got it until they have seen the other side of the rocks
Oh and I don't plan on being an FO for much longer buddy.

That's interesting isn't it? Certainly the case in FW, but totally opposite in helicopters.

I say if you haven't worked there and are slagging the company, use your real name on here, not a handle.
