70% is the pass. If your getting high 80's to high 90's, then u should be ok. But the questions don't get any easier. TC is trying to screw u on this gig.
Best of luck!

The Met qestions on the INRAT are pretty straight forward.. Focus on Icing and thunderstorms. Just study study study and you'll do fine. Have a look at the rules regarding GPS overlay approaches with respect to traditional navaids. those caught me a bit off gaurd.

good luck.

Is doing the actual 3 day course worth it, or would buying the workbook suffice? I'm reading the IPM, but it is out of date and some info is not so correct...
What else is useful for the exam in terms of weather, human factors, ops?

tango: I don't think the seminar is necessary... I just studied the AIP, Aerocourse manual and IPM and I did fine... and saved 300 bucks.. Just make sure you read the IPM along side the AIP cause like you said the IPM is out of date in some places

Get off your wallet and take the aerocouse,, money well spent,,

you will be learning from experienced pros,, not some hack flight instructor that is "just putting in time"

Me too, I only had the AIP and IPM and that stuff isn't really in there. Not a really hard test though.

The GPS overlay stuff is in the AIP.

Read AIC 12/04 - IFR Approval to use the Global Positioning System (GPS) In Canadian Domestic Airspace (CDA).

It covers everything.

Shit, I knew I'd need those amendments that were piling up in the mailbox while I was stuck on the reserve.

I didn't do the aerocourse, but instead bought the question book. It was pretty much word-for-word like the real exam. I recall questions about weather radar and stormscope so make sure you are up-to-speed on that! There was also a question regarding a "Minimim Fuel Emergency" asking what you are suppose to say in regards to how much fuel you have left in minutes until:

a. diversion to alternate is necassary
b. you will run into your contigency fuel reserve
c. fuel exhaustion
d. don't remember the last one

I didn't do aerocourse and got 90%. So there! :P Lets see take aerocourse=couple hundred bucks...don't take it buy some books and take the test for what, $35? Even if you fail it's worth it seeing what is on the test so you know what it's like. I suppose the next time you write you'll get another series, however.
