Come on- whats the point? We all have choices, we dont have to be in aviation. I have another fulltime profession and I fly on the side. Not in the flying game for the money, in it because I like to give back to the Industry. Yes, there are a lot of bitter pilots out there, but what the heck, theres lots of other jobs out there too.
shamrock104, although tongue in cheek, there is a point to this. The most fun I had flying was when I did it privately. If one can find a job that pays better, than perhaps it is also possible to do that and own an aircraft to get my flying 'fix'.
Most definitely- I did not like the Industry when I was in it fulltime, too much cost cutting, childish and clueless management with no concern for staff. It was difficult to leave but now that I can do it on the side I like it a lot better.
If I could afford my own aircraft which I hopefully can one day I will feel even better.
Speaking of being a Tim Hortons manager, I am good friends with the owner of the Timmy's here and he was telling me that his son just quit as manager at one of his other Timmy's. I suggested that if he paid him better he would have stayed. He told me $100,000.00 a year for a high school drop out wasn't bad wages . The stupid little turd left to do drywalling instead Dumb ass.
I quit trying to make it as a pilot because I didn't want to be poor and have a shitty lifestyle anymore. At this point, I'm on the waiting list to begin training for ATC. I have a University degree in meteorology on top of my flight training, but presently I work as a Survey Technician which requires no schooling whatsoever because I make nearly $70,000 a year and my employer covers all living expenses when I work out of town which if I so choose, I could all year long.

I don't know. I think I'd rather deal with sheetrock than customers and staff in the food service industry.
We all make our choices. For some, lifestyle, job satisfaction and happiness are more important than money.
One hundred large?? At Tim Hortons??? Holy crap. I am in the wrong business. There's one a block up the road from me, and I could sleep in my own bed every night. Shit! I have a degree - perhaps I'm over-qualified. how to fake it that I dropped out of hi skool; i wunder?
