Jazz sim evaluation
I know posts on information about the sim eval have come up million of times, but I have a few more questions if anyone wants to respond.
I have an eval coming up mid-March and was wondering if it was more of an HR thing or are they really looking at your flying skills?
I've heard of people really buggering up the ride. Blowing altitudes, hold entries, up and down hundreds of feet on steep turns, and even crashing. Do these guys still get jobs?
On an earlier post there was guy that said he loosened his tie after crashing twice doing steep turns. Was that for real? Did he still get offered a job? How many people wash out of the eval process with Jazz?
I am hoping to do well, and really want the job. It would like to put my mind at ease about this whole process if someone has some horror stories and still made it in.
Thanks!

Re: Jazz sim evaluation
It is a very relaxed atmosphere. Don't sweat it and don't worry about it.
Before I stepped in there, a captain came up to me and just told us not to worry. They're not so much looking at our flying skills as they are at your CRM. In other words, you can fly the sh!t out of the sim and still fail the interview. You can also be up and down in your altitudes, make mistakes, and still pass. My roomate said she lost 400+ft in her steep turns and still past. Some friends of mine crashed on landing or skidded the a/c to a stop and passed. I bounced it pretty good on landing and passed.
Show CRM by communicating a lot, handing control to the captain for app briefs, asking for help and assistance when req'd, involving the FAs if necessary, etc.
There's no tricks and they're not going to try to stump you. They give you a script before you step in that gives you the speeds, power setting, the calls, when they fail the engine, etc. If hired, this will probably be the easiest sim ride you ever have to do!

Re: Jazz sim evaluation
I did mine last week,
I was also pretty stressed going in but the guys that were observing and the gentleman that was acting as my PNF did everything to make it as comfortable as possible. It is just your standard ride, like C-HRIS said, just communicate lots! If you arent sure on something ASK and if your "PNF" gives you a pointer just follow it.
They give you a script with a few basic SOPs, power settings and speeds, other than that they just say to use your current company SOPs. So brush up on your company takeoff briefing as well as your hold entries. Other than that it is pretty straight forward. No tricks. It is over before you know it. Just have fun try to smile and show the crew that they would want to work with you for a 4 days pairing. With that said, I havent heard back yet but that is my $0.02.
Good luck!

Re: Jazz sim evaluation
Have your PNF do everything. Have them set the hdg bug, altitude, etc. This is Jazz SOP anyways. Give them control for an extra long apprch briefing to give yourself a rest. Make sure you breif them on the control xfer - fly this heading, altitude, speed, etc.
On the NDB, there is no wind, so once you're on the IB radial, fly your hdg bug, since you won't move off the radial.

Re: Jazz sim evaluation
Thats awsome. Thank you guys for the... $0.06 cents. I appreciate it!
Re: Jazz sim evaluation
What they are looking for:
-An overall improvement from start to finish.
-Can you listen to advice? (IE: if your PNF suggests something to help, DO IT!)
-Are you someone they could spend 4 days flying around with? (attitude/personality etc.)
-Are you trainable? Or do you have all the answers....?
These are a few things, but they are at the top of their list (trust me). You don't have to be an ace, but you do need to be trainable.
The sim-eval is the 'easy part'. It will get harder at different times and in different ways.
Good Luck.

Re: Jazz sim evaluation
Hey Guys,
Another question from a new batch of candidates....
Do they allow you to use the auto pilot and flight director in the sim?
Thanks for the help.

Re: Jazz sim evaluation
No FD (for sure) and I don't think they let you use A/P? Anyone else can maybe confirm this please?
Re: Jazz sim evaluation
Did my sim in June... No A/P and no FD... Use the PNF as much as you can and focus on flying the plane!
Cheers!
