Maybe you haven't gotten as much out of it as some, but PCC definitely does NOT suck. Where else are you going to find as detailed list of possible employers anywhere without paying for it? Just for that alone, it's a great website, and I would recommend it to anyone as a starting point for doing research on prospective companies.

As far as exposure, each has it's purpose. I don't know why you're down on them.

However some of the info is horribly out of date!

For Example, there's a school in Southern Ontario that still has the CFI from almost ten years ago!
He's since moved on and hasn't been at this school in almost 5!

Each one of those listings has a box at the bottom where you can update information that is inaccurate or otherwise out of date. Did you do your bit by updating the info?

No one said they were the best repository of information, but at the moment, I don't think there is an alternative. Like I said, it's a fantastic place to get a start on your job research.

Btw, I have no connection with PCC other than being a thankful user.

Cheers!

Canadian civil aircraft register. Search town by town, moving across the northern area of choice. Some owners hate that you can do that, so it's your little secret.

When I was looking for my first jobs, the ones who are on PCC were inundated with other applications from low-timers. The ones who were off the beaten path in regard to internet advertising in the pilot community were the most receptive.

Also, use the resources of the industries that aviation serves, as that's where all the marketing is done. For example, a prospective bush pilot should flip through some fishing magazines to find lodge/operators who aren't on PCC. Those same pilots should be at the sportsmen's show in YYZ this coming weekend too.... I never had much competition at those, and it gives you an edge to have met them (of course a road trip is best, but some owners migrate south and this is the chance to meet them). Just keep in mind that they are busy doing their season's marketing so don't push it if they look busy. Go first thing in the morning on thurs or fri when it's slow. I stumbled upon my previous employer at a show in the states, and everything worked out very well.

PCC can be a decent starting point, but it barely touches the surface of the job market. I agree that it's out of date.

Good luck.

They (the PCC) are charging people for resume services and interview preps so I think they should be updating their own site it if they want to make money off of pilots!

If we don't like it, nobody says we have to use it.

I've seen a couple of very interesting jobs on there which have not showed up on Av Canada. There have been opposite situations as well. So, I tend to watch them all.

Has anybody found success with the avcanada / pcc ???

I mean the Instructor Position posted a few days ago was something I applied to, but no response. I applied when it had 2 views so I must have been one of the first ones.

Interesting....

I've had luck with avcanada.. however the remaining jobs have all been through old friends and contacts made while working or training. Be nice to your instructors and hang around at the busy smaller airports and you're bound to come up with something at some point down the line.

I've twice been hired from postings I've seen on Avcanada.
Never from a posting on PCC.

Also agree that the info on PCC can be way out.

My first multi job was listed on PCC not AVCANADA. That's because they were not allowed on AVCANADA. Hmmm... I'm slowly learning
That being said, If I want to look for a job, I try everything and everywhere I can think of. Most of the better companies don't need to advertise jobs, they work on referalls or unsollicited resumes.
