can you reapply
would they concider you if you reapply after gettin thepfo? or do you have to wait 6 months to a year..?
Re: can you reapply
Hey pacman from what I have heard I believe it is 6 months till you can apply again. Maybe give HR a call and see what the deal is, from what I have seen so far those ladies seem really nice. Anyway don't be discouraged and good luck!
following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
Re: can you reapply
Some people who i thought were shoe in's for the jazz job got PFO's and they have no idea why, and neither do i!. One guy maybe had to much experience and didn't really want it anyways, but the others were really shocked and are now kind of blacklisted at there companies for getting their logbooks stamped and requesting references.
Re: can you reapply
At what stage did they get PFO'd? After sim? After medical? Or after everything?

I had issues with my medical, my white-blood cell count was "abnormal." They told me they couldn't clear me unless I went to a clinic and had the bloodwork redone with better results.westcoast80 wrote:Why do many people fail the medical?
I'd imagine the bloodwork is a common medical-killer. Fortunately it was ok for me, but I know some people who weren't as fortunate as I.

Hey C-HRIS, how long after the medical did it take before they told you about your bloodwork? I know i'm sounding impatient, but the waiting is killing me. Guess it's good this isn't the A/C 6 month process!

Did my medical on a monday, phone-call received on the friday. The bloodwork results usually take a few days. When I went to a walk-in clinic, they had the results within a few hours.

Re: can you reapply
How many cracks do you have on getting the white blood cell count to normal? There are many reasons why your cell count could be "high" or "low". Some of it would have nothing to do with the longevity of your aviation career. They've already invested a lot in you by the time you do your medical. Are they just going to tell you sorry you're out of luck!?! There must be some sort of appeal process for those that were mentioned that couldn't get on because of failed medicals.

Re: can you reapply
They told me to just go to a walk-in clinic and see if the results were different. I asked what would happen if they weren't, and they said it would be up to the AC doctor to clear you or not. If you've been sick recently or are on antibiotics, then this is something that may cause your WBC to be too low (as would AIDS or anything that affects your immunity). If it's excessively high, that's usually a sign of cancer, or so Im told.

Could be worse. Might get PFO'ed during the interview.
For most people, the interview can be a killer. Simply put, some people just don't know, when asked a question, why they were asked it.
If, for instance, you were asked have you ever had an accident or incident, some people might have instinctively said NOOOO!. But, most people have had a situation that could have deteriorated. That being the case, simply saying, there was one time... which allows the interviewer to allow you to expand on it.
They aren't looking so much for a history of you, but an understanding of how you recognized situations, dealt with them, and how you perceived the end result. If you can look at a past near disaster, try to find the elements: SOPs, CRM attributes, personal qualities, technical skills that averted disaster.
Did that shape your approach to further situations?
Those "tell us about a time..." questions can either kill you or make you in those interviews. Go through your flying, try to recall bas chemistry, difficult Capt/FO combos, accidents, incidents, training plateaus , and see what you can analyse before the next interview.
If you fit the parameters they set out, hours multi pic atpl, etc., the odds are good that they will call you again. Practice.

Yes you can reapply after 6 months. I know some that failed, most pooched the sim ride - anyone can have a bad day/ride. Some had the wrong attitude. HR will call you and offer a second shot, but if you really want this reapply ASAP and keep updating.
Anyone can have a bad sim, or bad interview. Work on what you think were your weaknesses, and go at it again.
