New Flying Club in CYQT
The Nor’Western Flying Club is now open and ready to soar. The Nor’ Western Flying Club is a non-profit organization aimed at getting pilots back into the saddle and in the air again. Members of the Nor’ Western Flying club have the ability to rent a spectacular 1977 C172N. It doesn’t matter if your Commercial or Private, all pilots are welcome to join. If you would like to join the club please feel free to call the Hanger at (807)577-4329. Or drop an email off to Jason jdhughes@lakeheadu.ca.
The CASARA chapter (NOSARA) in Thunder Bay has Purchased their own aircraft for search and rescue operations. In the down time the aircraft will be leased to Nor' Western Flying club allowing pilots from the community to fly. If you have any questions please feel free to PM or email me.

Re: New Flying Club in CYQT
Way to go Mike, Tbay needs a plane to rent, since the flight school closed its kinda dry.
The only three things a wingman should ever say: 1. "Two's up" 2. "You're on fire" 3. "I'll take the fat one"
Re: New Flying Club in CYQT
I presume you have some sort of Operating
Certificate for your club, because Transport
strongly contends (and the Tribunal has upheld)
that merely the renting of an aircraft is a "commercial
air service", and doing so without an OC is a serious
offence, punishable by a minimum $5,000 fine for
each rental occasion.
Would you like the case number?

Hedley, No need to worry. We strongly uphold this as a club, not an FTU. As long as our members pass the requirements set forth by the insurance company (type exam and a check flight) and since no money is being generated it is safe to operate. (so we have been told) We have informed our local office and have kept them in the loop as to our plans, and no problems have been raised. So, I guess so far so good.

I've always found the insular thinking in Ontario to be highly amusing. In order to visit the flying club from CYYC I'd have to head southeast and refuel at least once, but it's Northwest?

Re: New Flying Club in CYQT
Well if could be worse, you could have to go farther south by what 3 degrees? and hit southern Ontario! When you conisider Ontario as a whole, we are Northwestern Ontario!
