Red Canoe

Post by Kosiw »

Noticing at a few aviation type places across the country (Flying Beaver, Aviation World, Winnipeg Airport Terminal) that a company called "National Heritage Brands" is selling classic style hats, t-shirts etc, from deHavilland, Cessna, RCAF, RCMP etc...I bought a few deHavilland hats and t-shirts and get asked from time to time "where did I buy them"? I did order over the phone from their HQ in Toronto, and I asked if they will make other brands (I mentioned DHC-6, Dash 7, Dash 8, Caribou, Buffalo, all from deHavilland of course), they said they are open to ideas if there is enough interest out there....

So here's your chance, send them an email and tell them what brands from our industry you would like to see made.

The quality of the hats and t-shirts are very good (though rather pricey), but I think well worth it. :smt040

Rather pricey is a bit of an understatement, I believe. I ordered two t-shirts and two baseball hats on Friday and the total price, including tax and shipping, came to $131.00. I can state though that the quality of their stuff is absolutely first rate, and their goods are made in Canada, so it's money well spent. I hope they add to their product line also. Like to see the PBY and DC-3 on their shirts.

Essentially, if you can come up with a link sketch or picture of a significant logo, (Wardair, Eastern Provincial, the Twin Otter Logo) I think they would be willing to give it a shot.

I think there might be licensing issues as well with each brand or aircraft logo, not sure if just sending in a reasonable facimile will suffice...for me personally different dehavilland aircraft would be great to be able to purchase, since the dehavilland store at the Downsview plant has pretty limited supplies and very limited variety...and hopefully the prices would come down somewhat as they are steep. :smt048

If you folks want something special let me know. I have the means to create any type of shirt or hat. I'll just need enough interest in a certain type to go about getting permission. the shirts and hats are top quality, most made in canada or the usa, either traditional t's or fitted, and all types of sweatshirts . If I get enough interest, and input as to what the best designs would be and the type of shirt, i can come up with hard prices, and ship to your door. 2 t shirts and a hat should'nt be more than $65 or so plus tax and shipping.

Beer is always relevant.

I'd probably get a twin otter hat if they made it.
