April 7th Openings?

Anyone have any inside info as to what needs to be filled during the April 7th GS? I'm hearing that there's going to be a lot of RJ spots, which is bad for me as I'd really like a Dash spot. Anyone else hear anything different?

It will probably be like the last classes have been for the past few months... 6 RJ (YYZ most likely), 2 dash (YVR most likely). That's pretty much been the breakdown for the last few classes. My class was 6 YUL RJ, 2 YVR dash though. Ironically most people in our class wanted YYZ, while everyone who recently got YYZ is bidding out of it!

That's just a guess though. The vacancy bid also shows at least 3 YYZ dash, 1 YHZ dash, and a few YYC spots that will need to be filled this summer, so those spots could be coming up in a recent class too.

If you want dash, don't worry, as the dash spots usually go junior (although in my class it went pretty senior). If you get a base you don't want (im assuming you want YYZ and will be commuting from YQT), you will most likely be able to get a tranfer very quickly as the next big bid comes out in july. Some people have been getting transfers by the end of their line indoc. If the dash is what you want, bid it, and put a standing bid in immediately for YYZ.

Thanks for the info C-HRIS. Ya I figure I'll bid for the Dash wherever it may be, and then worry about YYZ whenever the next shuffle happens. I'll be commuting from YQT initially, then YSB later this year or early next year. Any new Dash FOs care to comment on how long it takes to hold a block these days? Will it be longer now that there are so few spots being offered in each class?

I'd venture a guess that you'd be on reserve for the summer. It at all depends on the base, and YYZ and YUL should have the shortest reserve times. Some senior pilots though tend to bid reserve, so this could shorten your time.
