oops
Jan 29:
A CL-600-2B19 operated as Air Canada Jazz JZA7654 was conducting a night IFR flight from Montreal, QC (CYUL) to Washington, DC (KDCA). The flight was cleared to land on runway 19 following a River Visual approach, but landed on runway 15.

Re: oops
you would be supprised how many times that has happened to other carriers, and with crews that have more experience then you or I. Don't laugh, could happen to you.

Re: oops
When you come in on the approach for 19 you end up lined up with 15 and have to make a fairly tight turn to final to stay out of some serious restricted airspace. Not a very pilot friendly airport. Fun once you've been there a few times though.
Re: oops
I've come close to landing on 19 instead of 24 in TEB. Capt has 10's of thousands of hours. It happens. Airports everywhere, more runways than you can shake a stick at. We caught ourselves, but I could see how many wouldn't. Surprised it doens't happen more.

no sig because apparently quoting people in context is offensive to them.

Re: oops
Many years ago after putting a 707 into Cartierville instead of Dorval, a certain airline became known as Been Over At Cartierville.
Re: oops
I lined up once with the rwy in Spokane and I looked slightly to my right and saw the exact same rwy a few miles over, I called tower to confirm my position they confirmed I was lined up correctly and the other airport was the airforce base. The controller then continued to say I wasn't the first confused pilot and that some have actually landed on the other rwy and the airforce isn't happy when that happens

Re: oops
I believe in YYC Jazz landed on taxi way U instead of 25. Infact in the CAP on the runway diagram for YYC it says "Do not confuse this taxiway with RWY25 when approaching from "YYC" VORTAC"

Re: oops
Don't think that was Jazz. Last time I checked we don't use 25. It has certainly been done more than once before though.
Re: oops
IIRC Air Canada has several times landed on the taxiway
instead of the runway at seatac. Didn't AC try to land
at the wrong airport in BC last year before they caught
their mistake?
Comair took off on the wrong runway at LEX last year,
and a lot of people died.
Landing on the wrong runway/wrong airport/wrong carrier
has been happening since before everyone here was born.

Re: oops
You don't even need to limit the examples to wrong runway or wrong airport. There are certainly enough examples recently where low-light conditions/limited visibility has led to landings beside runways.
Re: oops
Coming form someone who does not live in YYC, the tower location doesn't tell me anything. I could see this happening there. Hell it hasStrega wrote:How long is uniform?
and did they not notice that the tower was at the end of it ?

People accidentally land at fairchild all the time. It's funny, they put it on q6 news and I get to laugh.I lined up once with the rwy in Spokane and I looked slightly to my right and saw the exact same rwy a few miles over, I called tower to confirm my position they confirmed I was lined up correctly and the other airport was the airforce base.
