Re: Perimeter's shiny new Metro sim................nice!
It is pretty freaking cool got a chance to fly it and I think that it will make a huge diff in training costs and types of things you can do in training (ie jack screw failure)
Re: Perimeter's shiny new Metro sim................nice!
The sim after Jerricho was done:

no sig because apparently quoting people in context is offensive to them.
Re: Perimeter's shiny new Metro sim................nice!
they've finally figured it out!! Costs less to buy a sim, then do actual in aircraft training with all of those 1300 hours captains? lol.

I guess they figured if the in experienced piltos are going to run them off the runway, might as well turn em into somthing that 'might' prevent it. Can always reuse a sim!

Dumbest comment ever DHC3
Is that why almost every airline in the world use simulators??? Cause of their inexperienced pilots??
Maybe it's because real aircraft are far better used to make money, not do training. OR
How much cheaper per hour do you think a sim is vs the cost of fuel, mtc, nav canada charges? OR
You need a lot of aircraft time to cover 100 pilots.
Ps Don't worry I hear they are working on a DHC-3 sim for you. You won't have to simulate using your right hand and a copy of "Shaved"......which I don't want back

Me thinks the closest some of you guys have come to a sim is the blow up kind.
The most difficult thing about flying is knowing when to say no.
After over a half a century of flying I can not remember even one trip that I refused to do that resulted in someone getting killed because of my decision not to fly.

It's shaved the whole way for me!
Everything comes in threes....
Re: Perimeter's shiny new Metro sim................nice!
Any one got pics of this and can outside people use it
Re: Perimeter's shiny new Metro sim................nice!
Can they simulate running the shit out of a prop on gravel runways or going taxiing by people at an airport and having the double over in deafening pain?
Just kiddin, enjoy your new flight safety tool, guys! Train hard!
Re: Perimeter's shiny new Metro sim................nice!
It is fucking cool.
Wish it had been there when I was there.
Uses Google Maps satellite images instead of computer generated terrain. Over 180 degree visual. Metro II and Metro III capability.
Flies very nicely too. I however, don't.

Re: Perimeter's shiny new Metro sim................nice!
I don't know about how this sim is different or better than the rest but can you do things like:
1) simulate a C-172 (reason I ask is that many schools seem short on instructors -- so any practice time would be nice on a trainer aircraft).
2) Simulate VFR training stuff like doing circuits, landings, ect. (reason I ask this one is because I heard that even MS Flight Simulator can be very good for IFR stuff but lacks in VFR training).
Meow!

Re: Perimeter's shiny new Metro sim................nice!
Disco put it in already, Capability of the Metro 2 and 3, switching to a C-172 would be Extremely labor intensive as you are having to switch out the whole front end, the only thing that would be the same is the visuals.
As for getting practice in VFR, no sim is going to help you there. The only way to do that type of practice is to get out there and fly. As for sims, you can yes use MS for procedures but that is about it.
Once you get to the level of metros, king-airs, etc. that have proper Sims available for that type than you can use those for everything, however I have notice that even in the RJ sim the vfr visuals for circuits and stuff suck.

JK good to hear they got something new around there.

They forget to use their full call sign in their radio calls i.e. "920 500nm north of winnipeg"practice there radio calls? Perimeter 920 500nm north of winnipeg
Hence the Navcanada letter that every one recived about a month ago

Actually that letter had more to do with JZA flight crew not using their callsign. However, I agree PAG pilots leave something to be desired in that department as well.
