Re: Borek's Maldive op??
Done is semi retired. He flies for 3 weeks, they have a huge retirement party for him, and he goes home, diets for three weeks and goes to the next base for a lavish retirement party.
Mike is a rich airline pilot now. Never stops in to visit.

Re: Borek's Maldive op??
Jeses if Don is retiring I really feel old now.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Re: Borek's Maldive op??
Kinda off topic but thought i'd post here instead of starting a new thread...
Just want to confirm that you DON'T need the IATRA for F/O in the dives? Just multi-ifr and a float rating?
Thanks.

Are you enjoying it Kenora pilot?
The most difficult thing about flying is knowing when to say no.
After over a half a century of flying I can not remember even one trip that I refused to do that resulted in someone getting killed because of my decision not to fly.

Re: Borek's Maldive op??
Thanks guys. I didn't think you needed the IATRA. At least not for the DHC-6.

Yep, but you're on your own for the Facebook account.
Re: Borek's Maldive op??

Re: Borek's Maldive op??
When hired, you can anticipate that after a Maldives posting, you will at some poiny have to fly in the rest of te world, where night and clouds are a part of the job.
Training and PPC ride is in Canada, ergo, multi IFR is a requirement.

Re: Borek's Maldive op??
Ya have seen guys get hired at Borek for the Maldives with 250TT and 7 hours on floats with MIFR. You need the MIFR because you need to do the IFR PPC on the Twin Otter in Calgary/Inuvik before you head over to the Maldives. And yes I am loving the Maldives!! So awsome, flown about 100 hours this month with one day of flying left to go. Can't beat the flying and the shut downs are excellent! Good food, a real bed and off to Kuredu tonight for a 1 hour Massage for $15USD! Can't beat it! NO IATRA.

Re: Borek's Maldive op??
For Capts I don't know for sure, but I know they never could spend all of it in Male! The F/O wage is a little.....weak. At the end of the month we bring home $1700. There is talk's of a raise coming for everyone at MAT. However, living down here doesn't cost you anything....housing is free, most of the transpo is free, overnights at resorts are free, its all good here. Its hard to spend the $700USD Tax free money MAT gives you.....easy if you buy big ticket items but just on food and living expenses....naw
any other questions. It is the dream job!

Re: Borek's Maldive op??
I got a red pass in YYC before I left, but I had one in YWG so it took me two seconds to get it. They give you the paper work, but I don't think you NEED to get it, not until you get back to Canada.
