Multi IFR Question

Post by Freddy_Francis »

My MIFR is just around the corner. I was curious whats the better choice in the long run. Recently i've encountered a bit of a situation. I was going to go and check out PRO IFR (im somewhat familiar with their system) Is it better resume wise to go with a well established school whether it be PRO or another....or is it really not a big deal if I go with a small school with an instructor who is actually an airline pilot? (+10,000 hours)

Just curious Pro's and Con's and resume wise if it would even matter latter on...

Thanks for the replies!

I dont see any Pro's or Con's to your question other than a bigger FTU might have more planes, more instructors thus less probable scheduling conflicts/aircraft availability.
Its almost a mute point as you still have to meet TC's standarts.
Hope you have a great ride!

When dealing with two otherwise identical candidates for a position, then a more well-known school may prevail. I have never heard of just two applicants for any job, anywhere.

I left my hometown, where I had a school nearby, to do my training with Pro. I asked the head instructor flat out ("After finishing my training with you, if you were happy with my preformance, would you give me a recomend to potential future employers?" The answer was "NO... I only recommend my instructors.") That was enough reason for me to drive to the coast. After finishing my Multi IFR with PRO I had a job 5 days after... There was over 100 applicants for the job I applied for, but I got the job. I credit this largely to the great recommend I got from John Montgomery. I would do it again exactly the same in a second.

I don't think getting a recommend from the instructor is going to be a problem..and i've always been a self studier so the written exam won't be my biggest problem, also if need be im sure I could attend a seminar at PRO or elsewhere for the instrument written. Im just curious in the long run if it really matters or if it's the piece of paper that really counts.
