Yeh and we should rip out all that glass in those jets and replace it with mechanical instruments.

The most difficult thing about flying is knowing when to say no.

After over a half a century of flying I can not remember even one trip that I refused to do that resulted in someone getting killed because of my decision not to fly.

Yes pls! At -45, Those god damn EFIS screens just suck. Long live the steam gauges!

With all seriouseness, I hope pilots dont start screwing below sector altitude to avoid doing the approach just because the ceiling is a "couple" of hundred feet below thinking they won't hit anything with this thing. Obviously most won't ever pull that stunt, but it only takes one to try and the database to be off coordinate...

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great instrument if used right.

It works so well the guy in the video lands 500 feet before the "runway".

I think it's pretty neat, but I worry about all the rich, day-VFR types bombing around with their heads glued to their "wonder box", rather than spending quality time outside scanning for traffic.

maybe they'll build one with TCAS capabilities. Isn't there one similar like TCAS but much cheaper? it was featured on the wings over canada series.

I fly a 206 sometimes with a G1000, it has TAS which is very similar to TCAS except it doesn't tell you how to avoid the traffic, just where it is.
This same plane will be getting that Synthetic Vision soon!

I can see why some people might see a potential for issues but more intuitive information easily used can only help the responsible pilot. This is an incredible improvement to situational awareness.

I agree that the cool toys definitely draw your attention down on to the panel. I find that while flying VFR I really have to remember to look up and scan around since all of the required navigation info is right there in front of you. It practically removes the need to even look down for landmarks, anymore. Of course there's the argument of what do you do if it fails.
