Is anyone else having trouble with the Winnipeg region and licensing? There seems to be a couple of CASI's there who are interpretting the regs using their own english. I had one tell me that he didn't care what the reg's or MSI's said, he expected an M1 applicant to have experience over the full range of the license (fixed wing, turbine, piston). Then proceeded to tell me he wasn't a mind reader and wouldn't really know what systems were installed on particular M1 aircraft because he had an M2 license and that if I thought his review was inconsistent with the reg's, he'd put all the stuff back in he'd accepted as complete.
I heard similar stories about the same CASI in that an applicant who was approved to write tech exams in BC was refused by him when the applicant moved to Winnipeg. Seems he didn't a supplemental review of the file and decided he didn't agree with the first review.

Don't know about the Winnipeg Region especially, but you could always talk to Steve MacNab, I think he's the head M&M for Western Canada & Prairie, Northern Regions.
I believe the CARs 566 talks about 70% of representative tasks.
Always be polite to the TC guys and go higher, you'll get something!!

The way the log book/ 70% task requirment was explained to me, When you submit your log book, your inspector will compare what you have signed off versus what your AMO in certified to do.
IE: if your AMO is certified to maintain Falcon 10, Cessna Conquest, Eurocopter AS355, and a Piper Navajo, then you would have to have 70% of the applicable tasks signed against those combined 4 aircraft.
However if all you work on is lets say a King Air, then only 70% on the applicable tasks to that particular A/C are required for your sign off.
If your in boat #2 you dont need rotorcraft stuff, piston engine.
1 piece of advice, MAKE SURE all of your TROUBLESHOOTING entries are signed off. Otherwise, TC will kick your log book back.
I hope this helps.
Cheers Nick
