I know a student pilot can train on his own homebuilt aircraft, however is there any requirements past the Student permit (medical, radio, airplane certs, insurrance, usual documents). Basically can the student take the plane at anytime under VFR condition to fufill is solo requirement or It need a CFI on site to approved every flight before departure. (my hangar is not at the same airport place as the flight school). If it need supervision can a Commercial Pilot supervised the solo from the ground or just a CFI?
Thanks

ummmm ... no. Gosh, I hope Transport doesn't read this.can the student take the plane at anytime under VFR condition
Every solo student flight is supposed to be supervised by a
flight instructor. What precisely constitutes supervision is
an interesting question. For example, when a student pilot
is flying cross-country (as he is required to do) his instructor
is obviously not physically present at every airport before
the student takes off.

Re: Homebuilt Solo training requirement Past the Student permit
I had a similar situation when learning to fly, the supervised solo flights where a phone call of the were and when, and a call when I was back on the ground.
As for homebuilt as far as I know a plane is a plane is a plane no matter if Cessna or Joe Smith builds it.

Re: Homebuilt Solo training requirement Past the Student permit
Does anyone have any stories of student pilot prangs while flying their own aircraft without supervision?
There is of course that video of the Schwiezer helicopter wrecking itself when the student couldn't be bothered with an instructor....
Supervision of SPPs with their own aircraft is sometimes a difficult thing as sometimes they feel that since they own it they should be allowed to fly it and no poor class IV should tell them what to do
