It's not enforcement i'm worried about. They have nothing to do with FSS, we fall under another branch. Not to mention there not allowed to talk to any ATS personell without permission from management. What i'm worried about is my company, they give me a job to do with rules that i must follow. Plain and simple. Without rules we have anarchy and chaos. I know pilots don't like transport but if you do no wrong they won't bother you. (yes i cat i know :)

There is something horribly wrong with this picture.
Nobody cares about safety, or professionalism. Just slavish
obedience to the almighty rules and regulations (as if they were
created by Jesus Christ himself) and everyone lives in fear
of old-Testament-style retribution from Enforcement, which
is not so incidentally funded by our tax dollars.

There is something horribly wrong with this picture.

This isn't aviation. Glenn Curtiss, Orville and Wilbur
Wright, Billy Mitchell and Jimmy Doolittle knew what
aviation was (past tense intentional).

This is some weird kind of religious cult that worships
ornate documents on thick, creamy paper with lots of
dark ink
.
Hedley, your comments are reasonable, however reason no longer is the way things are done....they now walk in lockstep to their masters who they have never met...the geniuses who beaver away writing rules to supercede the last rules until no one can figure out what is right and what is wrong.

How did we manage to keep from killing ourselves for decades before all these rules were written?

You're calling us "Radio"?? Nobody is asking you to call us anything else.
-- no I address as xxx flight services -- not radio -- -- most others refer to "radio"

It's nice to have the information but all radar references are not all confirmed -- so to coin an old phrase - "stay alert and watch for other aircraft" -- I doubt if there are many specialists left who have used that coined phase let alone once an hour during their whole shift. - not many pilots left either pilot's who have listened to it -- -- damn I started very young :smt040

Considered doing stand-up comedy? I used to think that,
too, until I was cured of that idealistic nonsense.

I have a hunch that it was your confrontational attitude that got you further into that mess..

Just a hunch though.

You really think so?

Actually the opposite is true, when I was first contacted by enforcement I forgot the golden rule when dealing with them....Never ever talk to them, get a lawyer who understands how a Kangaroo court works.

So you are 100% wrong on that hunch Tim Tam, my problem was I made the mistake of relating exactly what happened with the naive assumption that would be the end of it.

It was not the end of it....far from it.

RE: FSS reporting many minor incidents to TC:

In FSS Basic training you are pummeled continuously about LAWSUITS and TC ENFORCEMENT FINES. Essentially it's pounded into you that since everything is recorded, the slightest infraction you chose to ignore could end up in a really bad way quickly. I can not emphasize enough how overbearing this mindset was throughout the training process.

With the TS reviewing your performance every 6 months and the cyclical TC and NC internal audits, it's not unlikely that something you fail to report could be discovered.

Theoretically, TC can fine ME personally if I failed to report something I should have. Not likely, right? Well, a certain FSS in BC has fines pending against the specialists there--they worked the position for months without reading Mandatory Verbal Briefings. Super, eh?
