NAV CANADA AWWS?

Post by Lost Lake »

Just wondering, but it seams half the time I go to the AWWS site, and especially to the user site it isn't working. Does AWWS stand for Ain't Workin Worth Shit?? Maybe all us frequent users should just start calling the FSS's, blocking lines up etc. Of course anyone who has had the pleasure of using one of Av Canada's remote dial up terminals knows it would be faster to walk to a FSS station than get info anyhow.

That's my piss off with transport today

Whoops, silly me, I forgot that Nav Canada is now an offshoot from Transport Canada. But aren't they both Gov't owned, supervised, etc. Don't both TC and Nav Canada deal with the safe operation and transportation of aircraft?

I guess if you only use it once a month and it's blue skies, it's good for you. Anyone who has to access it more than once a day, every day, has problems!!

And it's cloudy out. Nav Canada didn't build this site with the purpose
to piss you off. They built it to try and make your job a little easier.

Do you mean "piss of with transport" as in the transportation industry? Because NC's web site has absolutely nothing do with the other "Transport" commonly discussed on here.
Good God! CPL_ATC, and Just Curious... in (gasp!) agreement. OHHH, left arm tingly, chest hurts... must reach little red pills!

We don't have Jet Plan for the Buff - we use AWWS every day. 99 times out of 100 it works as prescribed.

It wasn't working for me this morning.

So I sweet talked it for a while, then offered it a case of Mountain Crest (since I can't afford anything better), but it still wouldn't work.

So I tried the intimidation route. It has a will stronger than a soviet spy.

Then I punched it. It returned with the wretched BSOD (blue screen of death).

In conclusion, AWWS has defeated me. Again. Humiliation x 100.

I have had the same error a number of times. I had it at 1500z this morning, again at 1700z as well as I've seen it at least once a week for the last 3 weeks.

I had the same problem when I used the "favorites" saved sight. When I gave it a shot I noted that it was the saved website that was out of date.

So, what would be your main point? Do you stop flying when a website goes down? Servers need maintenance too.

There are other sources of weather on-line. You may have noticed a weather link on the headerbar of this site.

NOAA, Jepp, fltplan.com all offer aviation weather.

Worst case scenario, you could phone.
