Very slow, a few move to jetsgo and westjet some FO have been in there seat for 2+ years,

YHZ is bussy for the winter, but is expected to slow in the spring (with jazz operating the dash on the sydney and pei run)

YYZ remain constant with some new position soon on the charter side of the company.

Schedule isn't to bad 11days off a month 1st year have 10 days of holidays/year + 9 statutory holidays (worked or not)
50-80 hour a month
a lot of 13h duty on the single day pairing for air alliance
a few 208 guys have been hired recently, we seen to be a bit short on 1900 FO, they should have interviews soon

GGN is doing very well. With AC out of CCAA now, things will definitely pick up at GGN. AC is very happy with the service GGN provides for them. Put it this way, AC could have said bye to GGN on April 1, 2004, but they didn't, and for a good reason. $$$$$$$$...nuff said.

Pilots are leaving for Jetsgo (why, i'll never know), Westjet, Cathay, possibly Canjet and Skyservice and very flying jobs in Europe. It's good place to start. Sure people complain, but some AC boys complain about their job as well. YHZ is doing well, YYZ is also doing well. Rumor is that GGN will set up at base in YWT (Kitchner/Waterloo), going to YOW and YUL.

GGN has been interviewing on a steady basis.

thanks alot - much appreciated.

2000h for the right seat 1900 don't know the caravan. biding for position is all about seniority a few 1900fo went on the van as capt, but in general fo don't leave the confortable and easy flying of the 1900 for the unpressurised caravan cargo handling operation

1900 FO level1@26886$
level2@31951$
level3+@34081$
1900Capt level1@45799$(for direct entry captain, never happen)
level2@52830$ (all compagnie upgrate carry at least one level)
increase to
level 10@64967$
all pilot increase a level on they aniversary at the company
CPI publish by the bank of canada increase in august apply to all salary and perdiem

perdiem@ 1.49$/h time away from base canadian for domestique, US for transborder pairing that have rest or break in the US

most pilot fly about 60H a month overtime is almost never reach by airline crew, and draft have been frequent this days if you need to make extra money

Oh and 11 days off a month, 10 vacation (12 over 3years,15 over 5 years with the company) 9 statutory holidays (worked or not)

What are scheduled destinations? (Other than Sarnia)

How is the company structured? Is Air Georgian the parent with two OCs: Georgian Express and Air Alliance?

The Flight #'s around 7000 are the AC flights with the 1900's into Canada & US. The other flight numbers are the cargo or charter flights.

GGN also has 6 flights a day between BDL (Hartford, CT) and YUL. YYZ and YHZ are the AC bases. YMX, YHM are the cargo bases. AC should be giving them more routes very soon, hence the hiring going on right now. It's not a bad place to be, especially if it is your first job. Things are only gonna get better at GGN.

BTW, the AC destinations are Sarnia, North Bay, Montreal, Rochester, Albany, Manchester, Westchester, Providence, Hartford, Allentown and Harrisburg.

Columbus and Detroit are charters that GGN operates weekly. The cargo routes are all over. GGN used to fly to London a couple of summers ago, not anymore. Prior to 9/11, they also flew to Grand Rapids, MI, Dayton, OH, Louisville, KY and Richmond, VA. The overnights were awesome.

Hope this helps...and good luck at your interview!

What are the upgrade times to 1900 Captain like nowadays? When the industry was good a few years ago it was something like 6 months wasn't it?

Sure was good times. Now, F/O's have been waiting for 5 yrs + for an upgrade in YYZ. You can take an upgrade in YMX or YHZ, but the only draw back is that you can't bid YYZ as Capt until a spot open up and your seniority allows you to hold it.

Exactly, just be yourself. It handles easy at low speeds (160-170 kts). Relax, be professional and have fun. You'll get through.

The flying part of the Sim Eval is straight forward. Nothing you haven't seen before...SID, an air exercise or two, hold, approach, IMC. A few questions thrown at you while you're working. They're also assessing your ability in a two-crew environment.
If you've ever flown a Beech you'll notice the sim flies pretty much the same (whether you're from a Boner or a King Air). The entire process is over before you know it, really.

Usually when they hire a first officer, what is the experience of the postulant? I know that they are looking for 2000 and 500 mpic but are they hiring people without turbine time ?

If you got turbine time, you stand a better chance than non-turbine time applicants. Pilots without turbine time have gotten on.
