breaking the rules
What rules are being broken?!
using intimidation to control
Intimidation? Control?! Of what?

Those are pretty strong words coming from the guy
that repeatedly attacks me as a "careless and reckless"
pilot and mechanic, despite my 30+ years of perfect
safety record.

People (like you) are always posting links to offensive
nonsense about me, and you don't see me running
crying to the moderator

Don't dish it out if you can't take it

Hedley, CID is consumed by paranoia about his true identity, Twotter posted something that seems to have really got CID upset enough that several posts just vaporized.

Same old same old.

The weird part is CID seems to think that anonymity is guaranteed on the internet.

CID seems to think that anonymity is guaranteed on the internet.
That's a hilariously naive opinion for someone to hold ... especially
when they continually lecture people about what a technological
expert they are!

Ah, the irony ...

You do know that both Enforcement and the Tribunal consider
anything on the Internet as the equivalent of sworn testimony?

Nope. But I do know the rules of this particular forum and I abide by them except that it seems to be a flamefest free for all in here. So I flame right back. You might want to brush up on them:

It ain't guaranteed, but this is an anonymous forum, and if people choose not to post their real-life information, then we will respect their wishes to remain anonymous.

I have handed out a few strikes on this topic alone, so let's try to keep it civil, and let's try to remember that this is just an internet discussion on an anonymous web forum.

//As a side-note, I know I'm doing my job when none of the posters in a discussion is happy with the way the post is being moderated. If I can keep everyone upset, then clearly the modding is being done in a fair and impartial manner, no? :)

this is just an internet discussion on an anonymous web forum
which, I might add, by precedent is admissable evidence
at the Tribunal by Enforcement.

So, how anonymous is that, then?

I can't speak for the entire legal system, but I can speak regarding the rules in this private forum. One of the rules is that we don't attempt to 'out' other anonymous posters - it's a personal attack.

Let me attempt to illustrate the difference between two different types of argumentative posts on this forum.

This is a typical example of some of the informative discussions that this board generates.

Example 1:

From Hedley: "Sulako, you are stupid and you smell like a monkey. I am worried that you might not be able to function as a productive member of society, and for your own safety, I think it would be best if you weren't a member of the work-force"

From Sulako: "Nuh-uh. I smell like a very clean monkey, and can spell large words like 'strawberry'. It is you, good sir, who are the dim one. And also fragrant."

Example 1 is acceptable, and should remain unmodded. It's notable that we aren't making a judgement call between 'acceptable' and 'useful / valuable' when considering the content of the posts, just whether or not they obey the rules.

Now let's try something different.

Example 2:

From Hedley: "I did a little research, and you, Sulako H. Christmas, currently residing at 666 Sulphur Blvd, Torontouver, working at RichGuyHaulingCo Inc, are incapable of upholding the high standards of your employer, and thus should be terminated at once."

From Sulako: "I fully refute your claims, and in turn, I accuse you of fondling a dead baby goat last week, on your front lawn at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, Ottawa. Then after the goat fondling, I saw you drink an entire bottle of rum before going flying in your plane. Oh, and your pilot's license is the following sequence of numbers...."

Example 2 is not acceptable, as it would be easy to track us down in real life through information that we have not freely given.

I'm sitting here and desperately hoping that the fine posters featured in this thread will be able to tell the difference between the 2 examples. If you have any further questions or confusion, please PM me and we can work through them again together.

//Thanks to Hedley for letting himself be featured in my examples...

Hedley this forum thing is actually quite tricky.

People like you and I are secure enough in who and what we are that we have no problem using our real names.

Therefore it should follow that we should take into consideration that others may have good reason for not wanting to be identified.

Interesting, cid, that in your post (calling it yours would be false since it is actually the forums) nowhere does it say that your anonymity is secure. It does say they (moderators) will not disclose your (personal) information but who even knows if the info you provided is true?

It does not say, however, that if you out yourself to a board member they cannot then out you. It does not mention 'anonymous' forum anywhere so to claim protection under that 'spirit' is a leap to say the least.

It does have a provision for a personal attack, however, simply outing someone does not (imo) fall under this provision... Unless that person has said something so stupid that their own words coupled with their identity would form the basis for said personal attack... you might fall under this category.

I don't see why you should be protected, it is not spelled out directly under the rulage you quoted... I would note that the rules don't prevent you from making overtly personal attacks (though there IS a rule directly relation to *PERSONAL* attacs), so why should you then be able to claim protection from those same rules? It makes you a coward and a hypocrite.

If you believed so damned firmly in what you say harnessing your true identity to those words would not be an issue, so in reality you should go to bed at night knowing that you truely are half a man unable to stand behind what you say, which is completely irresponsible and pathetic

In addition, to claim that twotter does not know who you are yet bitch when he hints to your identity really smells..

Hey now, I really wasn't trying to hint at who he was, nobody really cares. I was merely asking the GOD of aviation his opinion of a certain avionics shop.. Wasn't I???

You have some misconceptions there. I have never "outed" myself to ANY board member. twotter has some preconcieved notion of who I am. If you were familiar with twotter's tactics you'd know that he often tries to associated different entities on AvCanada by their writing style when they oppose him in any way.

twotter (and Cat Driver) have associated me with someone using this method of circumstantial evidence and continually use it as a form of intimidation.

I personally take pride in my contributions to this forum but I feel that the anonymity offered has the potential to allow for useful discussions that would otherwise not take place.

I think young aviation professionals should be able to ask dumb questions on these forums without the threat of personal attacks or statements that can potentially damage their careers or relationships with their peers or employers. Its one of the purest forms of open expression available on the internet.

Unfortunately people like Cat Driver and twotter chose instead to intentionally do personal harm which is directly in contradiction with the spirt of these anonymous forums.

If they don't like what you say, they try to figure out a way to ruin you. How vile and despicable must these two individuals be?
Goof.... there was nothing to resolve. A guy was offering his services and you jumped all over him fishing for an excuse to lecture from your cut and pasted soap box. Go buy a hooker and stop blaming everyone else for your virginity.
I asked a simple question that anyone who would hire this individual would ask. That created a conflict. That was the issue that was rasied.
Hey now, I really wasn't trying to hint at who he was, nobody really cares. I was merely asking the GOD of aviation his opinion of a certain avionics shop.. Wasn't I???
And I offered you my opinion. It's not my fault that your post (and by association, my answer) was against the rules and were removed.

Like I said before, this is so typical. Remember the pilot who asked about owner maintenance? That thread devolved much like this one. The usual pack of attackers went at him and eventually exposed his identity in a blatent attempt at blackballing him.

The only words I can think of are "vile" and "pathetic" that a person can't have a discussion on an anonymous forum without suddenly being faced with personally damaging posts that inflict personal harm.

twotter especially revels in this sort of activity and I for one feel that the quality of this forum would increase exponentially if the moderators would see their way to banning this negative influence.

In the mean time, I can handle it. After all, even the most beautiful parks are littered with dog shit.

A word of caution for AvCanada contributors. Do not, by any circumstances identify your true identies unless you are prepared for vile pathetic personal attacks that can affect your relationships with your peers and employers. And be extra careful with twotter and Cat Driver. They are quite dangerous in this regard.

Hedley, you seem to have trouble understanding the differences here. I didn't expose your identity. You chose to do it yourself and that's your right. I ever used your real name in any posts and have furthermore never associated your real name with the use of your "Hedley" handle.

People who use this particular argument threaten the spirit of anonymous forums. If you oppose their statements, they claim you are smearing their personal reputations. Talk about baiting.

True, the same could be said for perverts who make anonymous phone calls to women describing what they would like to do...but can't.

That is the beauty of being anonymous isn't it CID.

Methinks Azimuth answered the question by not answering the question.
However he did state all work will be supervised and certified.
AMO's did enter the discussion but he stated "GA aircraft" in his initial post.

That's not quite accurate widow. Not all avionics related maintenance is considered specialized and even those tasks don't need to be performed by licensed or otherwise endorsed personnel as long as it's done under the oversight of someone who is.

I don't have any particular issues with having someone like azimuthaviation performing avionics maintenance as long as it's inspected and approved properly. The issue here is that azimuthaviation is quite evasive when it comes to answering some very simple questions. Furthermore I question how anyone can offer services at a "fraction" of the price of the "shops" unless he's cutting corners or he doesn't have to develop the infrastructure to support a legitimate AMO.

All quite questionable and his reaction to my simple questions make his services seem all the more undesirable. That is the basis on which I declared I won't be sending any business his way.

So are you, when you are asked the same questions! According to you,
this is an "entirely anonymous internet forum", so where do you get off
asking questions that you refuse to answer?
I won't be sending any business his way
CID, there isn't enough money in the world to make
any business deal with you worthwhile.

Besides, you don't own or fly any aircraft, so what
