Very good with MAT! Hirng a bunch of guys for August and Sept. 8 F/O's are coming down for july right now. Just apply and keep applying to Borek. You've got a float rating I assume and a MIFR?

Would 500 hours TT and a PPC on a Twotter plus float time work without an IFR? I was of the impression that all the work down there was day VFR.

Yes it will do! You will only need MIFR if you don't have a PPC since its a MIFR ride in YYC.

Its a two crew ride, u need a valid IFR to fly for borek even in the maldives (as far as I know). Your ride is in Canada, and its an IFR one.

Yup, you will need the multi-IFR.

I have a legitimite question...

Are there any piston pounders on floats running around in that part of the world? Privately?

no. i had never seen a piston powered airplane there the 3 yrs i was there... but that was only up to the tsunami... maybe things have changed.

I'd be interested to see how the 'ol Beav' would do down there Rowdy ... I know the Caravans that were down there before the mass rush of '6's basically couldn;t handle the water... from what ive heard the engine mounts and firewalls buckled due to the pounding they took with the big engine hanging so far out in front...

.. of course we never found out how the single turbine otter would do either.. since the one and only ever in country that flew did so only a few times before being sold to sri lankan airlines in 2004

I spent 6 months in the dives and had the time of my life. But you have to be carefull because the last couple months can be the deadly ones. The first 2 months fly by and you ask yourself why would you ever want to leave here? The last 2 are when little things start to bother you and you loose paitents with many things. You start realizing how great Canada is. One the up side it is a great place to meet awesome people and do some amazing flying. For those of you going down there this winter, do your best to make lots of friends and get a group together and try and get the same days off. This way on your days off the whole group can leave the Island (Male) and go to another one where you can go Diving, snorkling, or just get completly trashed! I think one of the main things that makes people snap down there is dealing with the day to day things In Male. It can be depressing at times and especially on your days off if your sitting around there doing nothing. On your work days, be prepared to do lots of flying. Typically from sun rise to sun set. 6-18. There will be the odd day where you get a late boat or an early shut down at a resort. But those days get easially taken away by local pilots who feel they deserve all the cushy shutdowns. You will get to overnight at some awesome places, and some not so nice places. Hopfully you can get used to bugs being in the room real quick! The Captains down there are awesome to fly with. Everyone including managment is pretty laid back and you don't do any work except drive. If you got a chance to see the north first, this will be a treat for you. If you plan to go up north after the Maldives.. look out! Anyways thats about all I have to say for now. If anyone has any questions about the dives you can PM me.

Cheers!
