Working for AC, YYZ STATION 4 CPL PILOT
I am a Commercial, Multi IFR rated pilot about 500 TT. Currently I work for Air Canada on the Ramp. I would like to know that working for AC does have any benefits for my pilot career in the future. Thank you

None, try and find a smaller operator and work their ramp, you may even manage a seat fairly quickly

He would keep his Air Canada seniority with regards to company benefits, travel etc. But the pilot seniority list is an entirely different thing and he would have to start at the bottom. There might be some pension transfer provisions that would be very beneficial, but again each employee group has their own pension plan too.
There's no way to get hired as a pilot at Air Canada until you have the kind of experience you can only get by working your way up through smaller companies. But having already been a long time employee at Air Canada in another department would certainly work in your favour at a hiring board I would think. If there's any way to keep your employee number as a part timer or on LOA that would be a good thing.

Working the ramp at AC will look favorable on a resume and that is pretty much it. If you get hired by flt ops you will get your old employee number back because technically you are a re-hire. There is no other benefit for your ramp time. (Worked on ramp 2000-01, 320 F/O 2005)
