Can You Identify This Helicopter Helmet?

Post by Adam Oke »

Just as the title reads. Can You Identify This Helicopter Helmet?

I won't be home for a couple months and the old man just stumbled upon this. I can't seem to put my finger on what make or model it is. Gentex chin strap, nape strap, dual visors. ... hope it fits.

Apparently it's an ex coast guard fling wing helmet.

Awesome. Thanks. If anyone thinks otherwise .. speak now of forever hold your peace. Still up in the air as the strap is screwed on, and in the museum pic for the HGU-66 it's slotted through the helmet.

You'll need a splitter cord, and a different mike for fixed wing

Electret vs amplified dynamic. They don't work on fixed wing. Dunno why. I know squat about avionics.

If you are spraying already a good day of work or two should pay for a new one.

No spray time yet there nacho. This season was all about catching me up on the agriculture industry.... and it's been a steep learning curve at that  . I'll eventually be picking up and HGU-33 or and SPH-5 with the works in it (In around a grand or two). But I always thought free was a good price ... heck I'll just tack 'Vintage' on it ... sell it on e-bay and consider it a down payment for my next custom helmet.

I’ll drop the couple grand once I know I’ll be getting into a spray plane next season. You can expect an update by the end of this season where I’ll be at.

Nice Adam,

Is it just ground crew this summer, or are you checked out on anything?

I flew an airplane for the first time in 5yrs today - scared the shit out of myself.....

Funny part is, I flew the damn thing for two years back when... How soon you forget!

Best of luck on the spray stuff, and if you're in the market for a better helmet sometime, let me know, there's always guys selling second hand stuff at fair prices.

I ended up in Killarney. Shot e-mails back and forth, and called multiple times to Minnedosa, just didn't end up getting through ... that and I needed full time employment. Boss need's to buy me an Ag Truck first to get me rolling  . So we'll see what the verdict is at the end of the season if this 'city slicker' is of any use in the ag industry. It's slowed right down over here. We're just doing potatoes, and the ground rigs are into the herbicides again here shortly.

3 cases of Lorsban left the warehouse for a little bit of wheat midge, and the boss did some sunflower beetles a week or two ago. Other than that it's almost time to wrap up and head back to Ontario.
