Aggressive CL-415 demo in Sardinia

Post by linecrew »

Some amazing (albeit pretty poor quality) footoage on Youtube of an Italian CL-415 demo at the 2008 airshow in Sardinia. I didn't relaize that this brick of an aircraft was so agile.

Video 2

Edit: Found some footage from another airshow in Italy where the CL-415 performed a low level loop!!

Wow.....I hope he is more accurate on fires, because that was pathetic.

Looks sorta like a bomb toss maneuver if anyone asked me - cool at an airshow but useless unless you're trying to lob a Mk84 or Mk82 dumb bomb during a low level interdiction mission...maybe the pilot is ex air force?

He just plain dropped the load far to late, resulting an a complete miss of the target.

If he can't hit something that easy how can he be effective on fires?

I would have to say by taking the oxygen away by doing fancy loops over the flames...

I always loose my breath when I see a cl415 do a low level loop...

but never mind the fires.. wonder what the old lady has to say!
He just plain dropped the load far to late,
rather drop the old load too late then too early, eh cat ;)

note, the above contained various innuendo.

A 'miss' is a 'miss', nothing else. Crazy loops, regardless.

I'm guessing the crew was more focused on their fancy low level aerobatics than actully putting out the simulated hot-spot.
